SOAPBOX:
NI4U - Bands weren't cooperating for me this evening. Still feeling the effects of the geo storm I suppose. I tuned around, called CQ NA a few times, but no luck on 80m or 40m during the first 40 minutes.
N8HWV - WOW. Bands were horrible. I'm gonna claim one qso, but even that's questionable. 73
K9NUD - Wow, the bands were fantastic (jk, lol). Tough Conditions tonight! The RBN lit up the west coast on 40, but nothing nearby. Contacts were hard to come by. 80 was a little better, but still slim pickins. Looking forward to 160M!
N4MJ - Solar flares have deteriorated conditions on the bands for the past few days/nights.
Nothing heard on 20m
A few on 80m but they couldn't hear me.
40m had a few stations working but around 0200z activity vanished.
Not a good evening for sprinting. LOL
Maybe better condx in February.
73 de n4mj//glenn
WG8Y - Hi all, no 20m here and after tuning thru 40m and not hearing anyone I called for 20 min. with no replies. 80m was the band tonite. I worked 7 Q's in the next half hour and pulled the plug. Long day. Sorry to K1M??. Couldn't pull you thru the QRO guy that was 1 KC. up.
Ran my QRP Lab QMX 80-20M rig tonite.72 from N.C. Mark WG8Y
N2TNN - S7 on all bands but thanks for the contacts
KB2GKC - I started out strong.....then nothing. I stood of 40m tonight.
Bands still erratic from recent solar activity. CU next time!
K9QEW - 40M OPS ONLY USING MY HOMEBREW ROCKBOUND "FUNMITTER".
Band condx poor (A Index 73 K index 3 nasty QSB. Managed
a QSO with John KN1H/7 AZ. Still FUN! 72 Daryl
NA4O - Very rough night here with vy few stations heard and all vy weak. But I got a few, so another good sprint. Elecraft KX3, 5W, Vibroplex Straight key.
KN2G - Well now! This was a very hard night at my location. I only heard about 10 stations and managed to work 4. When the other contest started at 04:00z I shut it down. Thanks to Darrell, AF4PX, for several valiant efforts before we got the qso done. See you next week for more static surfing on 160!
KN1H - This month we are wandering around in the Arizona desert a little northeast of Phoenix, camped in a wonderful Maricopa County park. Ran out a 28' wire using a telescoping pole on the back of the camper, nothing else around higher than 3 feet! A lot of QSB and weak signals tonight. Totally lost Andy W4NLT only part way into the QSO, never to be heard again. Several ops went to great lengths to get the State (AZ) correct out of my 229 signal. It was a treat to work you all! 72, John, KN1H/7 KX-2, straight key, 12V battery.
AF4PX - Was a slow night here at the AF4PX radio ranch, 20 was not good, 40 a little better, but most of my Q's on 80 Meter
KF7Z - Got in late and was only able to make one QSO before the band collapsed, thanks Steve, KC5F. Elecraft K3s to a 20 meter diploe up 25' running 5 watts.
72 Danny
K3RLL - Nobody heard on 20m tonight but I think I did okay on the "Worked All IL" tonight. However, 40m QSB was wicked here! "Now you hear him; now you don't".
KC5F - Surprised to get anyone, and it did start out slowly. In the first half-hour, 1 on 20m and 2 on 40m. Then to 80m for the rest of the evening. Sorry to any I couldn't hear, including Don, VE3DQN, who started strong and then disappeared... But it was fun, as always. Thanks, all! 73, Steve
AI5BE - No answers to my CQ this go round, didn't hear anyone call CQ NA. See you guys next time!
VE3DQN - Got on the air late tonight and band cndx were horrible! Couldn't hear anyone, so I started calling CQ on 40m. John KN1H came back to me RST 229, but it took several attempts to get his callsign. And then he gave his QTH as AZ. What?! Am I copying that correctly?! Reading the soapbox confirms that's where he was. Definitely my DX for the night. Thanks John!
KE8ZGS - This was the first time I participated in this sprint. It will not be my last.
KE9DR - Wow, first time that I never made a single contact. All the bands very poor, heard a few NA CQs, too weak to contact. AF4PX was strongest I heard tonite, and he was 339, almost tried but QSB kicked in also. Fun trying. 72 Bert, KE9DR
K2OID - Only operated for last hour. Worst condx ever. Only heard/worked 1 station (KC5F) on 80M, none on 40M. TNX Steve!
N9JFZ - Tough for qrp tonight, fact is it would be tough for any power level. No contacts on 20m, most on 80m and a few on 40m. Still had a good time.
72 All, N9JFZ Rusty
W9DWR - Started searching for NA at 7:10 and, amazingly, nobody there! It got a lot better once it actually started! Did well on 80 meters tonight. Thanks for the contacts! 73!
NF8M - Op time 30 min. Well, old Sol had its way with the ionosphere the last couple days and 40 was nearly impossible. Only heard two stations and it was a tough one. 80 wasn't much better, managed 3 QSOs. Tnx to those I worked for being patient and persistent. 40 wasn't any better later on in the CWT, and 80 was a struggle then too. Hope for better condx next week in the 160 sprint. Hello to KE8ZGS. Come join us again. QRP's tough with attic antennas (but don't tell K3WWP). 72 to all es HNY
WX4RM - Contacts equally divided between 40 and 80 meters, nada on 20. Really high noise levels on all bands tonight. Had fun as always.
K4KRW - Thanks everyone! VE3IIM, thanks for hanging in there. 73 Richard
KC3MIO - Started on my new TR-35 (with 288' loop) and made all of two contacts on 40 so I had to go to the MTR-4B for 80, which was working much better (relatively). Heard zip on 20. I assume the AZ station I heard was KN1H and it seems like I wasn't the only one who could copy AZ and nothing else. Too bad. Happy New Year all and looking for better conditions next week on 160. Rich
W8GG - Hello Fellow Sprinters! I was wondering if the bands would let us play after the recent solar storms. I fired up at 5 watts and let er rip! 20m was dead at abt 730pm local. So 40m was where the action was at fer me. i worked 7 stns es heard 8 others that didn't hear me. Deep QSB on several signals. went to 80 at the top of the hour and heard several callers but no joy. Back to 40 fer a couple more es then QRT fer night. See u all next month. 73 Gregg W8GG
N2ESE - Gave UP after hour and half only 3 qso's.
N5GW - Not many NA stations heard tonight - must be due to the fading solar storm. Some interesting signals were noted, including rapid QSB and wavering CW notes.
KA8VZB - Conditions left a lot to be desired but I learned that my end fed tunes up nicely on 80M. 72, Joe
KA2KGP - Very poor conditions from the Solar Storm & had to QRZ early because of "Thunder Snow" Blizzard here in WNY this sprint. Rig: IC-7000 at 5w. into G5RV up 20 ft. w. straight key. 73, stay safe & keep warm out there !
AA0W - Condition weak with few stations to be found. Thanks to all for the fun sprint.
AB9BZ - No stations heard on the zBitx. Tried calling CQ, wasn't being picked up on RBN. Made the mistake of using the zBitx with an external keyer. I'm going try to make some code changes to hopefully fix this.. 72 de ab9bz
VE3EDX - Only worked first half hour 2 QSOs, Nothing else heard.
KQ1P - I will blame the geomagnetic storm for me hearing no stations and vice versa!
KE3V - Odd night. This is the first time I've been skunked during a sprint. I started on 20m, then 40m, ending on 80m where I heard a couple K3Y/ stations but no sprinters. Called CQ for a bit on each band to no avail. Packed it in by around 2120 EST. I see others made some contacts. I just must've been at the wrong place or something. Next sprint will be better. 72,73
VE3IIM - Very poor conditions here. Nothing on 40, or 20. I did hear some calling me, but way too weak..
AK3X - 40 meters was a mess. Luckily I found KC 5F on 80 for my only QSO. Thanks Steve.
K3JZD - Here in WPA, I Was not hearing anyone strong enough to copy on 40m. Made a few QSOs on 80M, even though all signals were weak there. K4 @ 5w - 107' EFRW. 72, Jody - K3JZD
KK4ITX - Yet another SKUNK. My ears seem to quit after dark. Maybe I'll have some wild luck next week on 160m?
KC3RN - SLOW night this month. Was only able to make 3 contacts in the first 45 minutes, so I pulled the plug. Maybe next month will be better.
WA1GWH - 40M and 80m conditions seemed terrible. I only heard about 5 stations on both bands. I did work two on 80m despite my very compromised antenna setup. Did better last month with the same setup. G5RV two feet above the lawn on garden stakes. I like to try oddball antennas! TNX ES 72!
