SOAPBOX:
AA5LH - Great to be back. Tonight, 4 storms rode thru the Springs, many carrying hale & large amounts of rain. Yet I wanted to get back into the Swing of things. 20M was moderate length w/QSB. 40M was nearly wiped out by static crashes. Extremely hard to break thru there. Thank to those worked & see you all next month. Take Care. 72/73.
WG8Y - Hi all, Only worked part of the first hour. Did little too much yard work today. Started on 20m and worked N7KM in UT thought, h Boy, but didn't hear anyone else so went to 40m. Went up the band & worked 6 Q's. Went back to 20m and heard and worked KD0V in MN. then 2 more on 40m then pulled the plug.
72 all from N.C. Mark WG8Y
KD0V - I made a mistake in setting my power 50 watts instead if 5 watts for the first half. I will try to do better next time.
KN2G - Late start and early finish tonight. Fun to see 20 open so late and snag a couple there before hitting 40 for a while. 45 minutes total time... As always, good fun! See you in October!
KE9DR - 40 was only band open for me. Lots QRN and some QSB,
Lots of fun, thanks to all. 72 Bert, KE9DR
W9DWR - Bands seemed good tonight. Thanks for all the contacts!
KC5F - Decent conditions, with lots of multiband QSOs. But not a single QSO with many close-in states, even on 80m. So not a lot of multipliers, but always fun!
KN1H - Thanks to all for a fun sprint! A little hint of Fall in the air with twice as many Qs on 80 as on 20. 72, John, KN1H. IC-7300, Nye Viking Master Key.
K3IY - Running a FTDX-10 at 5 watts into a longwire at 30ft. Had lots of fun in a challenging sprint! Started out on 20m and that was very slow for me. Spent the rest of the night on 40m. 20m seemed noisier that 40m, oddly enough. I slogged through with the straight key, always a challenge to run a straight key for 2 hours straight. My key is a Navy CLT-26012. Certainly had sprints with higher qso numbers, but great fun regardless.
NA4O - 40M only tonight. Bothersome QSB. But I am still amazed at what a mere 5W can do! Thanks to all who heard me with my very compromise antenna. KX3@5W, Vibroplex Straight key.
K3RLL - Lots of activity, but fairly weak signals on 20m.
Almost nobody heard on 40m and no luck calling CQ.
Trying out new 29' EARCI EFRW over garage roof, replacing my sad 'wet string' antenna. If tonight was any indication, ... I need a different color wire or something. There are times I wonder just why I build this FL house in an HOA. Hmm...
K3JZD - 40m and 80m were much quieter than they have been lately. Good QRP conditions. All but my last 6 were on 40m. Although it is brief, it is good to hear everybody each month. Used my K4 at 5w this time. 72,
Jody - K3JZD
K1MZM - My first Sprint in many, many months. I have replaced my antenna that was destroyed by a massive pine tree last year and I hope to once again be a regular here. It was great fun to see some of my old friends. It was also fun (and a little challenging) to work W2BR who was running 500 milliwatts.
N5BO - I missed last month, but it was nice to jump in for this go around. My apologies to a few ops I couldn't complete with, noise at the home QTH is fairly bad at times. Thanks to all who worked me!!
N9JFZ - Most contacts on 40m, 3 on 20m and 1 on 80. The 1 on 80 was the toughest. Had a good time again.
72, Rusty N9JFZ
K2OID - 40M much better than last month. Nice to QSO Alan, K1MZM again and many of the other regulars as well. TNX everyone for putting up with my CW fist. Fun as always.
NF8M - Op time abt 15 min. GE QRPers... short session but nice condx es a couple new members - welcome! Tnx fer the QSOs es CU next month.
K8NGW - I've been away for a few months ... glad to be back. Not much heard on 20. Spent the night on 40.
K1WOR - Only on for 15 min this time
VE3DQN - Strong signals, good activity. Would have loved to catch the UT station, but 20m didn't stay open long for me.
N7QR - 94th Sprint, KX3 '58 Vibroplex Presentation 1.5 hours nothing on 80 or 40,
lotta POTA stations on 20 who could hardly be heard, they couldn't hear me when I asked for their power, so I guess I can't count them (what's the Q code for power level?) Russ Portland OR
WX4RM - Worked all 3 bands tonight, most productive was on 40M. Thanks to all who were able to hear my little signal. Had fun as always.
N7KM - Used my old, but solid performer, FT817ND. It still works perfectly. I only had 30 minutes to operate but the 20 meter band was wide open. Every CQNA drew a several replies and I missed a few, sorry. I learned something new after showing up an hour early and getting frustrated. I learned London time is not the same as UTC. I guess they enjoy changing clocks too!
W8GG - Hello Fellow Sprinters! Great night for a sprint. This is my last sprint from this QTH. ( sigh) after 43 yrs, moving to new home. I fired up the FT857 at 5w. I was going to use a straight key, but it got packed, so used the Vibro-keyer. 20m was open nicely at the start, some signals true 599. Seemed to dry up quickly. by the top of the hour i went to 40. Seemed as thou we had another contest gg on as the band was very busy. Worked a few of the regulars es then checked 20 agn where i grabbed FLA. back to 40 fer a few es then called it a night. Nice to hear many old friends tonight. Sure will miss my antenna farm. But dreaming abt an even better one at the new QTH. 73, Gregg W8GG
KA2KGP - Another nice NA Sprint. The bands were good here in WNY, even 80m. had a few QSO's. Rig: IC-7000 at 5w. into a G5RV up 20 ft. w/ straight key. 73
K4BAI - 20 and 40 were pretty good, but a lot of CQ stations didn't hear me calling. Participation may have been a bit down. Didn't try 80M since 40M had been so hard. Thanks for all QSOs. Very nice to work DK1VD in Germany on 20M, I think for the first time ever. 73/72, John, K4BAI.
K4JPN - Only had a 1/2 hour to get on and conditions were very heavy QRN. 72, Steve K4JPN
AA0W - Condition Fair Storms in the area no 80 M contacts. Thanks all for the fun Sprint.
N2TNN - Short time but fun
VE3IIM - Worked some new ones this month..good showing..
KC3MIO - Bands seemed good from PA, but hit several droughts. Worked one non-member in WA. Ran out of gas and pulled the plug at 0200. KX3@5 watts into 288' loop average height of 35'. Wished I could have pulled in AA5LH but couldn't seal the deal. 73/72 and hope to CU in the anniversary. Rich
N2XTO - Great night, tho started late. Got DK1VD...a little DX surprise on 40m! Got sidetracked responding to a non-sprint CQ, so I spent some time on a friendly QSO ("my QTH is...", "rig hr is...", etc.) All good!
N3CAA - Another good evening operating from the backyard. The new dipole thrown together with spare parts performed rather well despite being no more than 10 ft off the ground. Thanks for the QSOs and 72
N5GW - I didn't have much time, but I was able to work three sprinters using my home brew one watt vxo TX and superhet RX.
