K3RLL - In the holiday battle between QRPp and Christmas lights, nothing heard here on 20, 40 or (severely antenna challenged) 80m this evening. But it was a tie game as nobody heard me either. (Sigh)
Will be anxious to see results. Hope conditions were much better elsewhere. 72, ... Don
K4KBL - Many contacts in the first hour but then 40 meters was silent of NAQCC 1 watt specialist,at least at my QTH.
Had a great time working old friends and a few new folks as well.
AE7I - This was my first time participating and I enjoyed playing for 60 minutes (all the time I had available). I need to look out for future Sprint dates.
N8HWV - Could hear so many signals quite well thru my 20 dB attenuator, but only two heard me over the 70 minutes of search n pounce. Good nuff! Thanks AF4PX for hanging in there with me. 200 mW out.
KE3V - Another nice night for radio. 80m seemed to be where the action was. Worked several stations in about an hour and had fun doing it.
W0EJ - Started out great but all got quiet. Tnx for the contacts.
NQ2W - Fired up (or down) my K1 to 700mW and had a blast. Most stations that called were definitely 100% copy...some static crashes took out some info on some stations but that's why we ask for repeats! Loads of fun at QRPp...thanks for the contacts and for the opprortunity to play radio. Happy Holidays! 72, Will, NQ2W
KD5SMF - made several attempts on 40m band. No contacts
qsy to 80 m band no contacts.
qsy to 20 m band, no contacts.
qsy back to 40m & could hear some faint signals but again no contacts.
I used my Yaesu FT817 at 5 watts. the only signal report I received was from a station using a pixie who said he sent me an rst of 579 in TX. I couldn't hear him over the qrm in my area.
This was my first naqcc sprint. however, it won't be my last as I know propagation will change and conditions will improve. Also as an skcc member, I posted about the NAQCC Sprint on their sched page and several members there participated. Again, location location location makes the difference with qrp ops.
WD4OHD - Unfortunately, still using a substandard 40m dipole, barely off the ground, but it did surprisingly well tonight with less than one watt. Apologies to NF8M that QRM drowned us out, but I logged our contact anyway since I had all the necessary information, on my end at least. Not sure if you copied me completely. Signals seemed to dry up around 0300Z so I pulled the plug. Thanks to all the milliwatters out there.
KK4ITX - Threw up a 65ft 40m EFHW, first 30ft vertical then slope to 4ft attempting to get around the S7 noise. Got a TX POTA before the start and just one member from GA. Always happy to get at least one when things aren't going great. I guess that there was a geo storm also..... many distant static crashes. Played for 1-1/2 hrs. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
N0DA - Heard three NA stations on 40 but only K6GPB was able to hear me. Thanks Earl!
KC5F - Nothing on 20m here, tonight, but 40m sounded good and so did the few I heard on 80m. Not as many as usual, but 1w instead of 5w does make a difference, I guess! Thanks to all who were there tonight!
W6WU - That was fun! First milliwatt sprint! Made a 10db attenuator earlier today. Checked it out on the dummy load with the oscilloscope. 4W in yielded 0.560 watts out. Perfect! Manually switched out the attenuator on receive. Used the QMX XCVR; I may
use the PTT out on it to drive a relay in the future. Ran a test QSO before sprint with a POTA op - N4IN. 40M was decent, but 80M sigs were strong. Had to quit at 03:00Z. Thanks for QSO's. 72, Steve
K9NUD - Great signals tonight! 20 was a dud for me so I went to 40 and got my first 22 contacts. The QSB was a little deep but the signals were good. 40 seemed to fade by 02:30 or so but 80 did not disappoint. Thanks for all the great contacts! KX3 @ 900 mw using a cootie.
N4MJ - WX killed most of my OTA time. Lightning was too close. Tnx to all participants & MERRY CHRISTMAS. BE SAFE!
N2TNN - That was really nice band conditions and many stations on the air. 73, Dean
NA4O - 40M only tonight. 500mW from KX3 with Vibroplex Straight Key and 41' end fed wire up 20'. Conditions favored IL for me.
AF4PX - My rig won't go below 5w
KN2G - Now that was a worthy challenge! I did lose one contact... and had a qso in the middle of the sprint. Merry Christmas everyone! May your stockings be filled with 5NN signals. 72
KQ3Z - 80 meters was the only good band at my location. 900mw KX3 doublet at 65' in the trees.
KC9IL - This was the first time I had to try out my new Icom IC-705 in a mW sprint. It worked well. Very nice to have good propagation on 40 meters the first hour. Thanks to everyone who called, and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.
K3JZD - 40m was not very kind to me. Was not hearing much at all there. Went to 80m and did much better there with my 0.9 watts. Even with the QSB. Always enjoy the milliwatt sprints. Elecraft K2 to 40m dipole & 80m EFRW. 72, Jody - K3JZD
WB1GYZ - Tks fer another fun Sprint. Lots of good and patient ops this evening.
K6GPB - Nice with less than 1 watt to make contacts besides hitting the RBN. 72 and Happy Holidays.
AI5BE - My first event with the club and my first time making QSOs with only 1 watt!!!! can't wait to do it again!!!!
K4KRW - I got a late start. I had contacts on 40m and 80m. My now 11 year old KX3 is still such a pleasure to use. The auto peaking filter was extremely helpful tonight. What a fun night. Thanks everyone! Richard
WG8Y - HI all, Had a Great time. Tried 20m first. Dead here agn in NC. 40m Was pretty decent. Worked a couple Q's going thru the Band. Then CQ'ed which worked better. 15 Q's on 40m & 7 on 80M. Love digging those Whispery signals out of the noise floor. Had 2 doubles. KA2KGP,TOM & NQ2W,Will. Tnxs all for a fun Sprint.
Fun Stuff. Merry Xmas all. Hope everyone has a stocking full of radio goodies. Can't wait for the next Sprint to Use the MTR3B I won.
Thanks NAQCC!
Used my k2 at 900MW into an OCFD 50ft up at the apex.
72 From N.C. Mark WG8Y
W4NLT - Ran 0.7W tonight and was able to do better than I thought. QSOs mainly on 40M and 80M. Good to work the QRP faithful. TNX for the QSOs 72 Andy
NF8M - Op time about 20 min. 0.88 watts into an EFHW. Weak but nicely readable sigs on 40 tonite. Even got a 579 RST from a couple. TNX everyone es MX/HH/HNY!
N7QR - 9th mW: KX3, 1958 Vibroplex Presentation. Worked the local traffic net who was running a full gallon for 1 point. A lot of FOX QRP contest stations on. Happy holidays! Russ Portland OR
K5ZU - I used my K1 with a Nye MK,that gave me fits. I thought I made 2 contacts but not for sure. Oh well, next time I'll be using my Brown Bros. ST.
WI8J - IC-705 at 1 watt
W8GG - Hello Fellow Sprinters ! I broke out the FT817 tonight es fired er up on battery power, dialed er back to 1 watt, and prepared for some flea power fun ! 20m was just closing here at the start, but i did manage a QSO with KQ1P before the band went to mush es gg to 40m. 40 was tough! full of high power stns es plenty of noise. I did hear quite a few lil'pistols out there but not many could hear me. WG8Y es K4KBL had the big sigs tonight. The rest were down in the mud. The 817 did quite well despite not having any filters. I heard but did not work: KC3MIO, W6WU, K8IIJ, KC9IL, N4MJ, WB0RLJ,AI5BE, W2SH, es WT4U. Gud fun as always , but twice as much with flea pwr ! 73 till next month, Gregg W8GG
KC3MIO - Icom 705 at one watt into 125' doublet @ 45'. At the start, things didn't seem promising: high noise on 40 and nothing on 20. But the noise abated on 40 and 80 was active. Nice to work MS, WI and IL. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year and CU in 2025.
KB2GKC - 40m was nice and quiet in Central NY. thanks for contacts
WT4U - Nothing on 20m, though RBN said I was getting out. I suspect my local noise floor was making me a 1-watt alligator. 40 was better, but I ran out of stations. Thanks to those strong stations I worked and apologies to those I couldn't hear.
KQ1P - CDX unsettled, 20M went quiet early and 40M was active but not very productive here, nothing found on 80M.
WB9HFK - 40M for the 1st 1/2 hour - then, I shut down. Thanks for the QSO's and Happy Holidays to all!
72, Mark WB9HFK
KA2KGP - A very nice Mw Sprint ! 20m. was dead, but 40 & 80 were great here in WNY. My best Mw Sprint yet. Merry Christmas & Happy New Yeat to all, 73
K4WY - SURPRISED AT THE OLD ROCKMITE TONIGHT. HEARD MORE THAN I WORKED, HAD A GREAT TIME
72
KB1M - Started sprint at 400mW but had to increase to 900mW to make contacts. There seemed to be a RF absorbent sponge over my QTH tonight, although I did manage to work a station in AZ just before sprint started at 400mW. 72, Walt
NN0SS - KX3 @0.9 watts Ant inverted V at 30 feet
cootie key
VE3EDX - Worked one station on 40.. Didn't hear any one else. Very noisy conditions at my QTH. Haven't worked any sprints for quite a while and hope to improve on that in 2025. Best wishes to everyone.
W2SH - QRP had a double feature
playing this evening. There was the 40 meter Fox Hunt and NAQCC served up a milliWatt sprint. In the former I QSO'd Cathy, the Tennessee vixen, but found no trace of the other Fox in California. Operating in the sprint meant reducing my power from 5 Watts to 650 milliWatts. 20m seemed closed but I made three QSOs on 40m and three on 80m. A busy night that yielded modest scores.
AA0W - Poor conditions only two stations heard. Thanks for the sprint.
KN1H - Set up in a beautiful campground near Deming, NM, weather perfect, 50 mile view to the North and West, never heard a single NAQCC milliwatter. Or much of anything else either. Called and listened for over an hour before calling it quits, very disappointing. KX-2 on battery at less-than-a-watt, straight key. Happy Holidays everyone! 72, John, KN1H
KM3D - MOPA! (2 transistors) - Lectrokit SP-1 (1993) + external VFO = 1 watt w/J37 Mae West straight key. External AF amp 1U5/3V4 tubes; lots of fun! Many thanks to the few who dug my signal out of the 80 meter static. 73 de Harry, KM3D
WA2FBN - Used my X5105 tonight into dipole at 25ft. and Palm paddle. TNX to all who worked me. 72 Ken
WA1GWH - Worked 40m with my SW-40+ set for 900 mW. Band was not very lively. FoF2 was down around 3 mHz. So not many sigs on 40m. Thanks for the contacts!
N5GW - Nothing heard on 20M. 40M had mostly weak signals and QSB at first - later improved. I did not listen on 80M because there was QRN from rain nearby. It was good to hear a fair turnout for the weak signal work.
AK3X - Only had a few minutes before the competing QRP fox hunt started but at least got a few contacts. Happy Holidays to all
