SOAPBOX:
KJ4R - Had to call it quits after just 3 QSO's. Storms / lightning close by. 20M seemed good for the time I could operate. Had RBN hits deep into Europe and some in 7 land as well. Thanks to W8GG, N9EEE, and W6WU who found me before I had to pull the plug. 73 to all until next time.
AB9BZ - Got the new QMX+ on the air running 3W. Thanks for the sprint, 72 ab9bz
K3RLL - Another fun half-hour on 20m, which was hopping at the opening gate but signals started to fade pretty quickly. 40m, on the other hand, must blocked by construction of something this evening.
Thanks for the contacts and nice greeting from Will.
72... Don
NQ2W - Only a short time to operate but it was a busy time. Thanks for the contacts and the opportunity to participate. Always a pleasure...72, Will, NQ2W
AC1KV - Have to quit early due to thunderstorm. Thanks for the Qs.
WD9HBC - It's been 17 years and that was a blast! 5 watts into my very modest vertical and lots of local noise and still worked stations. I went with my keyer this month since it didn't appear many IL W9's were in that category and I vainly hope I can get a certificate. Next one will be straight key. 72, Jim
N2QFD - So, pretty tired tonight and thanks to Glenn N4MJ, you inspired me to go to bed! Hi Hi. Work for Utility and we've had storms up here, was up at 0430 but didn't want to miss swapping a few numbers tonight. Hope everyone had a great sprint and look forward to trying again a little better rested! 72 and tnx to all.
K4KBL - This has to be the weirdest sprint Ive ever been involved with in years. Started on 20 and doing ok. 20 started to fade and I thought 40 would be really busy, not a chance tonight.
NF8M - Op time 1:15. Interesting night - some good sigs on 20 but some noisy ones also but nice to have 20. 40 was noisy with distant lightning but some vy fb sigs. 72 es cu next month.
KO4TFE - Using a new TR-35 that I built from a kit. One of the last one's ever sold.
WD4OHD - I didn't hear much on 40m when I began the Sprint at 0049 UTC, so I tried 20m. Good signals there during the first hour. Then I went to 40m and found conditions were improved. Stayed there until pulling the plug at about 0200. Pretty good band conditions overall for a summer month, with only moderate noise.
KA6J - Conditions a little rough here in So Cent TX tonight. Running an X6100 to a ground mounted 4BTV vertical. Sorry to those I could not pull out of the noise! Thanks all for the sprint! 72
N2DGQ - Twenty was open most of the night. Had a good run. Forty was done by the time I got there. Typical good time. Fortunately, the thunderstorms stayed away from my QTH.
See you all next time!
WD9EGW - Thanks for the QSO 72, Chuck
KN1H - Thanks everyone for the fun Sprint. Noise from both near and far T-Storms was quite strong. Amazing how 5W can overcome it with persistence! IC-7300 and Nye Viking Master Key. 72, John, KN1H
KC5F - 20m and 40m were great tonight, except for the lightning QRN on 40m. I almost had to disconnect, but the storms didn't get too close. Sorry for the missed QSO with KD0FNR/1 on 20m - you had a great signal and then disappeared mid-QSO. At least one other missed because of the QRN on 40m, but most were great signals. Thanks, all, for the fun!
AA5LH - Been out for a couple of months. Nice to hear many station on 20M. So Much so I stayed there vs. fighting static crashes on short time with 40M. Thanks for all the Q's. Take Care.
NX1K - First sprint in quite a while. Fun event, and enjoyed working some old friends and new ones.
K9DRP - Only able to jump in on the last half hour (school bus refresher course). Noisy! Noisy! Noisy! Had to be an S7 for me to hear you. But still fun. Argo V inline tonight with a bug/cootie. 73, Don
AB8SV - I had very noisy conditions and lots of fading, thanks for the contacts! had fun as always
K4KRW - Flex 6600 and Begali Pearl tonight. I made contacts on 3 bands. I got one DX contact from Germany. Thanks DK1VD for hanging in there. I could just barely make out your signal. Fun night. Thanks everyone. 73, Richard
AA2VG - Only on the air for a couple of minutes with my QMX. Tnx Lee AA5LH for the contact. Great to CU AGN.
KN2G - Oh wow! 20m burned up 20 minutes of nothing for me. 40 definitely carried the night. I decided to take the plunge and call for a while. It was a little overwhelming but really fun! I brought in over a dozen contacts that way tonight. But for me s&p is still the most relaxing because I can take my time. I quit a few minutes early since my few functioning brain cells were overheating. I apologize to those of you that I fumbled. 80 was tough but good for a few at the end.
VE3DQN - Good cndx, good signals, glad to have 20m open, had success in running for 20 minutes on 40m.
W6WU - QRN! Noisy night, thunderstorms passed through an hour before the sprint started. Low-band QMX into homebrew EFHW 49:1 xfmr and 65 ft of wire hung as Inv-V hung from 7M Spiderbeam pole. Hope to hear you in the FOBB. Thanks for the QSO's! 72, Steve
K9EYT - 20 and 40 both sounded good for a change tnx's for the QSO,S, ELECRAFT K3S AT 5 WATTS G5RV at roof top level.72
N3CAA - Got home late and could only go QRV for only 20 minutes at the end. First 5 minutes yielded only one search & pounce contact, so ended up calling CQ and picked up 7 more in quick succession. Was a lot of fun calling CQ for the sprint, it's just like a POTA activation but in air conditioning. TU for the QSOs and look forward to the August sprint.
WG8Y - Hi all, Used my new QRP Labs QMX 20-80 tonite.I've been tinkering with the QMX and My new QMX+, 6 thru 160 on my work bench in the garage so worked the Sprint from there. Got a little muggy out there. Hi Hi. Love both these little rigs.
I put together a qrp power 10-40m EFHW just a couple days ago and decided to give it a try tonite. It slopes from 5 feet up to app 20ft into a pine tree.Just did casual S&Ping on 20 & 40m.
Had fun. 73 all from N.C. Mark WG8Y
W4NLT - A little overlap with FPs but managed to get some of the QRP faithful tonight. Thanks for the QSOs. Andy 72
AF4PX - Sorry for the repeats, it was just plain to hear tonight!
As usual "The funest 1.5 Hour!"
W9DWR - I just joined NAQCC and this was my first sprint and first NAQCC contacts. Thanks for the fun! Looking forward to many more.
N4MJ - Early on no sigs for NA on 40m. Went to 20m. Found a few but band slowed around 0100z. Back to 40m. Band finally came alive although I've seen it much busier.
Thanks to all participants and sorry I couldn't get a couple of stations. QSB and QRN interfered, especially for the weaker stations.
73 de n4mj//glenn
N7QR - 83rd 40 and 80 too noisy. Many broken calls on 20 for 1.5 hours.
Fun anyway! Russ Portland OR
WX4RM - Thunderstorms ended just as sprint began, caught a break there. Signals on 20 were strong and lasted almost the entire night. I think the ground mounted Vertical worked better with the rain. Had fun as always.
DK1VD - Hi the best was 20m open for 30 min the time i need to catch K4KRW thank you. 40 m was like to train my ears low sigs and qsb but it was fun again
KE5YUM - A bit noisy with static crashes but I managed to get two good contacts. Looking forward to next month. FT 710 @ 5 watts with a CWMORSE straight key. All the best, Terry
K1IX - Everybody must be on vacation ! had low activity level here. But still a good time. tnx for the Q's. 73 Frank
KB2GKC - Bands quieted down..... 20m has been nice in the evenings.
WB1GYZ - Stormy wx, rough cdx, pulled plug early.
W8GG - Hello Fellow Sprinters! I had gud intentions of working entire sprint, but that didn't happen. Got 3 QSOs on 20. Call cq on 40 es coulnt pick em out. Had to QRT at 845pm. too bad as 20 was open. See u next month. 73 Gregg W8GG
KA2KGP - 20 & 40 were good but 80m. was poor this sprint. Nice turnout for this NA. Rig: IC-7000 at 5w. into G5RZv up 25 ft. w/ straight key. Keep cool this summer ! 73
WT4U - It was looking iffy, but the thunderboomers passed through in time for the Sprint. After working John K4BAI on 20 & 40m, I wanted to go for the trifecta, but had to shut down for an early morning start. Bands were better than expected, with lots of strong signals and tolerable QSB.
K4BAI - 20M was better than it has been for many months in the NA. 40 and 80M were covered with QRN. Very hard copy through it. Tried 80M twice in the last 15 minutes and never heard any signals--just QRN. Thanks for all QSOs. QSOs by band: 20M: 19. 40M: 29. 73/72, John, K4BAI
KQ1P - T-storms rolling around but got some QSOs.
W0DCX - TNX FOR THE QSOs! I was using my new Begali Blade SK.
N2TNN - Nice event but only one band was active. 73, Dean
WB0CJB - 40M was very noisy. Thanks to all who called me and stuck it out while I tried to get their call correctly.
K3JZD - My simple wire antennas are temporarily down due to a construction project in my back yard. This month I went from one extreme to another : From a K4 at 5 watts and 3 EL Beam on 20m to sitting on my front porch with a KH1 hand held with its Base Loaded 48" Whip on 40m . Turns out that I was using a lot of factory defaults in this unfamiliar KH1, including using the widest possible receive filter and running Low Power (2 watts). So, it was no surprise that I did not do real well on 40m. Kudos to those who heard me and worked me on 40m. 72, Jody - K3JZD
K9QEW - 20 meters operations only 72 Daryl
AA0W - Poor Conditions from my station. Lots of noise and weak signals. Fun time thanks to all for the contacts.
KK4ITX - Storms to the south was problematic from time to time. Lots of activity with the WFTB and the Sprint. Thanks for picking me out of the weeds!
N9EEE - Equal parts S&P and Running. Equal parts 20m and 40m. My EFHW was a good performer...battered by recent storms...looks more like a sagging noodle than a sloper :)
VE3IIM - bands were noisy here..still enjoyed it!
AK3X - Missed the first 30 minutes and made a few contacts, then the XYL sent me on a one hour errand. It's always something. I did make a couple more when I returned
KC3MIO - K2 @ 5 watts into 125' doublet. I was pleased to work KC7DM in OR. Not much to the SW and 80 was a real disappointment. Only one contact (KN2G) on 80 and no other CQs heard and no responses. Nice to work some new members and some new (to me) low numbers. Tnx to all my contacts and 73/72 till next month, Rich.
KD0FNR - Woohoo!!! KO6BTY and I got Project TouCans back up and running the day of the sprint. (Its been down for about three weeks.) And what a blast! But wait, the story gets better!
We are in Maine for LobsterCon, (a QRP con) and we were camping on W1REX's farm! For those who might not know the significance, Project TouCans consists of a Rockmite feeding a Tuna Topper, all embedded in the air in a dipole, and W1REX is the purveyor of both of those kits!
I think the rig made more sprint QSOs than it ever has before, so that was nice too. The rig was spotted well into Europe and Eastern Europe, (being in Maine helps, Im sure), but no dx contacts. It was also spotted as far South as Costa Rica.
Apologies to kc5f and thanks for trying to get back to me. The keyer on Project TouCans has gone back to its old decision that frankly, two AA batteries is not enough to power a RaspberryPi for the length of the sprint. I could answer your call, and then the keyer would conk out again before I could complete our QSO.
N5GW - 20M was in good shape this time. 40M was OK. I usually don't even listen on 80M this time of year because of heavy QRN.
W2SH - I was in the midst of lightning storms, and much of my time was spent disconnecting the antenna and grounding it, and then reconnecting
it and turning the rig back on. 20m behaved nicely for a bit over the first half hour. 40m was smothered with QRN. Nothing was heard on 80m.
WA1GWH - I started a bit before 9PM EDT and not too many ops on 40m. But, after a call or two had a pileup on my hands. Worked about a dozen stations in a row in 15 minutes. Thanks for the contacts! 72!
