SOAPBOX:
K4KBL - All 20 meters. static crashes on 40 terrible. only on for 45 minutes but had fun with 1 watt
K3RLL - Experimenting with antennas and not sure I've found a winner. Pretty reasonable RBN Spots with 900 mW, even into Europe, but feel fortunate for the two skilled ops who heard me tonight. 72, ... Don
KD0V - The Sprint went better than I thought it might. TNX everyone.
KF6C - 40 M was fun but no luck on 20. Running K4 set to 1 watt output. Power output reading on IFR CPM 20 1.071 watts. I think the power output setting on the K4 is pretty good for a 1 watt setting on a 100-Watt rig. still, I guess I was over the 1-watt limit. But to what accuracy are other measuring their power output.
WB1GYZ - Thanks to all of you who make this happen.
KC5F - At a Mexican birthday party, but I stuck the WRC vertical next to my car and made a few contacts in the rain to have taken part. Nothing like the EFHW at home, but at least a few folks heard me! Sorry to VE3DQN for the busted contact. QSB got us and I didn't hear your confirmation... Thanks, all!
NQ2W - I was hopeful that 20m would be the productive band...didn't pan out. 40 was a little noisy but for the most part sigs were solid copy. Couldn't stay for the full 2 hours, so I never gave 80 a try...takes a little too long to switch out the band module in my K1. Thanks for the QRPp QSOs and all the fun that goes along with making them! 72, WIll, NQ2W
AB9BZ - Thanks for the fun sprint. Have a great Field Day!! 73 Dave ab9bz
K9QEW - Tried 20m no luck. All Qs on 40m. Had a pipe line into NY.
Only operated one hour.
72/73s & STAY TUNED! Daryl
N4MJ - Very late start, early departure. Good to hear the activity. Surprised to hear/work MA. Best signal goes to KD3CA.
Tnx to all participants.
73 de n4mj
KN1H - A lot of amazing milliwatt signals tonight. Thanks to Ted, KN4ZXG, for hanging in there! We lost each other a couple of times but got it at last. IC-7300 @900mw out, Nye Viking Master Key.72, John, KN1H
K9NUD - Nice bands, great contacts!
NA4O - Not able to hear many tonight. Storms in the area. But was able to snag Mark, WB9HFK, in IL with my 500 mW. KX3, EF@20', Vibroplex Straight Key.
WA4AAK - Operated the final 30 minutes, and was delighted to make 2 QSOs in spite of heavy QRN on 40. Thank you, KD3CA and WB9HFK! 72, Evan
KN4ZXG - Was rock-bound on a Rockmite. I'd made some QSOs with it in the past but this is the first contest for it. I think it's getting around a quarter watt out. Thanks to WB1GYZ for coming back to me later on after the initial try, and to KN1H for sticking with me. Three difficult QSOs and one relatively easy one. That was a lot of fun for just 4 contacts! 73.
WB9HFK - 40M for the entire 2 hours. QRN was troublesome. Sorry to those I just could not pull out of the noise. Alot of fun! 72, Mark WB9HFK
K8NGW - I was hoping 20M would be good tonight, but no. There were quit a few signals but QSB was so heavy that I only heard short segments of QSOs. Moving to 40M the QSB was minimal but the noise was high. My distance record was only 655 miles to KB1M with 0.89 watt. Still, its not a sprint to be missed!
K6GPB - Called CQ a number of times and made the reverse beacon on 40. Did not hear members on 40 or 20. Definitely look forward to the next try at the milliwatt level.
VE6VIC - MANAGE 1 HOUR, NOT A LOT OF ACTIVITY, NOT MUCH LUCK AT CALLING CQ! BUT HAD FUN!
W2JEK - got on late. Had 4 qsos . lot of fun with 1 watt. rig OHR-500 and end fed wire ante3nna. SPEEDX straight key.
72 and 73 DON W2JEK
WI8J - IC-705 at 1 Watt. Some loud signals here on 40M. Thanks for the contacts.
W8GG - Hello Fellow Peanut Whistlers ! I fires up the K2 on solar power and cranked 'er down to 900mw. 20m had several signals at the start, but i could only grab N0TA there. Several CQ's down in the depths of the either. Went to 40 where there where several Lil' pistols hanging out. WB9HFK was true 599 here in mid-Michigan. Some QSB on 40 caused me to miss severel whole calls. Only had about an hour to play, but had a blast. Always amazes me just how far you can go with QRPp and a dipole. Heard but did not work, K3RLL, W0ITT, W2SH. Hope to hear many of you operating from the field this weekend. I'll be "poundin da brass" with the Central Michigan ARC gang, W8MAA. This will be my 51st FD. WOW, time flys when your having fun with Ham Radio. 73, Gregg W8GG
WA2FBN - Used my TR35 at 1w into EFHW sloper on 40m with my old J38 key. Band was pretty noisy. TNX 72 Ken
KA2KGP - A pretty good Mw sprint this month. 20m was nil but 40 was the best band, as 80m. had summer QRN. Rig: IC-7000 at 1w. into G5RV up 25 ft. w/ old WWII German Junkers straight key. 73 to all.
WA1GWH - Dusted off my old SW-40+ and set it at 950mW. 40m was fairly noisy with QRN but I had no trouble with exchanges. Quite a few strong sigs in there. However from here near Syracuse, NY it seemed that ops were clustered just above 7040 and stepping on each other a lot. There were some just below 7040 but below 7036 was a wasteland, for the most part, from here. Maybe this was just propagation as I saw it, but consider spreading out QRPers.
KB1M - KX3 @ 500 mW. no luck below this Pwr level. Best DX tonight was KD0V at 2232 miles per watt on 20. thanks for the Q's 72, Walt
KD3CA - Missed first half hour, Band's a little QRN with sum QRM but some very good signal's, was running the K2 @ 1 watt , Many thanks for the calls , very Sri to ones I missed. 73 Don
AA5LH - Thought that I would take my KX2 to local park, giving the home rig a rest. Swapped between Hamsticks & EFHW. Heard many stations on both antennas but didn't get replies. Enjoy the action until 02:00z then had to quit. Take care & 73/72's.
WT4U - That was a rough one. With the storms off and on all day I was expecting QRN, and it delivered. Copied K3RLL on 20m, but he couldn't hear me. Landed one each on 20 & 40 and then just wasn't hearing anyone over the noise.
WG8Y - Hi all, Was gonna skip the QRP/p. We had storms and I was getting "Stuff" ready for Field Day. Couldn't resist to at least listening a little.
About 9:45ET Cleaned off a spot on the garage bench and brought out my KX1, plugged in a J-37, a 9 volt that was laying on shelf. Rig was flickering between 800 & 900MW. Good. Hooked a Butternut HF6V that"s Grd mnted in the side yard. Didn't hear anything on 20 so went to 40M. Heard KD3CA with good signal. Took a few tries but he heard me. Thanks Don. Also worked Mark KA2KMP. Heard others but they weren't hearing me. Think my battery was giving out. Radio said low voltage a couple times. That battery is now in the file 13. Hi Hi
72 from N.C. Mark WG8Y
KN2G - Glad to work several members on two bands in the MW Sprint. It was way more productive than I expected. Thanks for the repeats, the ..__.. and the cordial exchanges. Friendly bunch, good ops and decent qrpp conditions. What better way to while away a Wednesday night. 72 es GL at FD
KC3MIO - Missed the regular sprint; had my equipment but was in a hotel room in NC with no balcony. Decided to operate MW sprint from my deck at home and put up a 71' EFHW as a sloper 40' high down to 2'. Ran Icom 705 @ 1W. Tried 20 with no luck and then 40 but went back to 20 and made two contacts, N5GW in MS and K3RLL in FL. Stuck w 40 for a while and checked 80 and found nothing. 40 petered out with no new signals and finished out on 80 with three contacts on a second band. I guess you have to be a masochist to work QRPp and there were not so many stations on the air. Nevertheless, it is always amazing what you can do with <=one watt. Thanks especially to WB9HFK and K3RLL for patience to make the contact.
W2SH - I checked 20m a couple of times; it seemed
to be open, but no NAQCC activity was noted
and my CQs went unanswered. 40m Was active.
80m was fairly quiet but served up two QSOs.
KA8VZB - Amazing fun on 40M with the Ten-Tec Argosy and 500 mW!
AK3X - Missed the first 45 minutes as usual and lots of interruptions as usual. Stayed on 40 meters. Signals seemed good. KD3CA had the loudest signal. 72 to all, Peter
N5GW - KX3 at 900 mW. Condx were rather poor on this end - most signals weak on 20M. Moving to 40M after one half hour, I could only find WB9HFK strong enough to copy.
