SOAPBOX:

K3WWP - Still have my strong local noise here. Not as bad as it was at one time, but still enough to discourage me from putting in more than a token effort into our sprints. Oh well, still have the memories of those 40, 50, 60 QSO sprints from the early NAQCC era.

AB9BZ - Only operated 1 hour. Thanks for the Qs. 72 ab9bz

N8XMS - It sounded like conditions were really good and I wish that I could have had more than my 20 minutes of available time to play.

K9NUD - I had to cut it short, which is too bad. Lots of great signals tonight!

DK1VD - Just one Station to start in the new year i could finish it an then a local unknown noise was starting

KC2MJT - 40 worked for me tonight. Tnx to all. QSB on 20 prevented me from completing any QSOs there with any success.

KM4JEG - I didn't forget this month. Tried to get KD0V on my 1 watter on 20M but he never heard me calling. I had to switch to my KX2 instead but i got him in the log at 0135. TU

WG8Y - Hi all, Started half hour late and was only on for app 45/50 minutes. Tried 20m. only a couple very faint calls. went to 40m. worked one then called CQ on 20m and worked WI5H in TX. Called some more and was spotted on west coast,by an EA8 and other stateside beacons but no takers. Worked a couple more on 40m and two on 80m and pulled the plug. Time for an 807 and some pretzels. Hi HI. 73 from N.C. Mark WG8Y

K3RLL - Conditions seemed much better this evening. RBN was my friend, for a change and even stronger on 20m. Not many signals on 20m but they were the strong and the brave! No killer score but a good evening. Thanks for the nice contacts and watch your email for the warmer WX I'm sending you, Will ;-) 72/73 ... Don

K4KBL - Great time for about 90 min with new ZS6BKW antenna. Worked CO, UT and NE as well as many other friends...

W3IPA - I was able to finally make my 2nd sprint. I had a bug ready to go so I thought. Unfortunately wasn't able to use it for this sprint so had to fall back to paddles.

AA5LH - Nice to hear many stations tonight. 40M started out dull but grew as the evening went on. Hope everyone has a great 2023. Take Care.

N3CAA - Sending with a straight key using the non-dominant hand is starting to progress but still quite slow. Apologies to everyone who heard it.

VA3KRJ - Enjoy this event and loving QRP operation!

K7ZI - Heard many stations but unable to work most. Lots of QRM, great competition for those I could copy. Great sprint until the CWT "showoff's" come up on frequency just before 8pm.

KC5F - I didn't get to hunt much on 40m - they just kept coming back to my CQ's! A few more on 80m to end a good night. Thanks to everyone, including DK1VD!

W6WU - Signals were good on 40M. Thanks for all the QSO's. Hope to meet you in the 160M sprint.

K2CWM - Thanks all for the contacts. Happy New year to all.

VA3NU - 40M was in good shape tonight. Just had to duck and dodge some CWT activity for a bit. Always a fun event and hope to see everyone next month. Larry 72

AA2MX - An fun evening with qrp, thanks everyone Bill

K3JZD - 40m was doing fine for the first 90 minutes. Pretty good short and long propagation Then along came the usual high power tune-ups and the wall to wall event. So it was time to escape to our niche on 80m to make a couple more QSOs. K4 at 5w, 40m dipole at 30', 107' EFRW at 25' on 80m. 73, Jody - K3JZD

VE3DQN - Fair conditions from my high noise QTH. Tnx to all participants for continuing to make this a fun sprint.

K9QEW - All OPS on 40m and high noise levels. 50% of QSOs made using my ole HB rockbound "Funmitter" A challenge at times but more fun. 72/73s & STAY TUNED! Daryl

VE3IIM - 40 was in great shape here. Headed to 80m when CWT started up. Heard some I couldn't work..OK, MN..Good fun!

NF8M - Op time 10 min. Got home late from helping son with electrical work at his house. Good condx on 80 fer QRP tonite. TNX QSOs es 72

NQ2W - It was great making some QSOs on 20m! 40 seemed kind of quiet...80 was good with strong signals. Thank you for the enjoyable sprint. I hope 2023 is off to a good start for everyone! 72, Will, NQ2W

KD0FNR - Wow! First time I've ever worked an entire contest, and first time I've ever made a QSO in a contest!!! I expected the 20 meter band to be shut down, but the RBN showed the Rockmite making it into Canada routinely with the furthest RBN station being VE2WU in Quebec which was kind of hard to believe. But then, four minutes later, I had a QSO with KN1H. Since it was my first contest QSO, I went a bit deer-in-the-headlights and copied the QTH as AZ, but the license database says KN1H is in NH. (Maybe they're travelling this week, but either way, woohoo!!! First contest QSO :) ) About 2:36 GMT the 20 meter band completely shut down here in San Francisco. It began to recover at 3:24 GMT when at least the Stanford RBN station down the Bay could here me again albeit at 0 dB. What fun! Thanks everyone! 73 de KD0FNR Hamilton

WX4RM - Band conditions were much better than last month. Had a good time as usual. Always look forward to the monthly sprint!

KE5YUM - Wow! I almost missed the Sprint, but 20 was still open when I sat down in front of the FT 817 with my CWMORSE straight key. I worked one in the few minutes I had. See you next month.

NG8S - Lots of QRN and QSB but did manage to get 9 stations. Challenging but fun! Robin, NG8S

WI8J - Thanks for the contacts! 72

W8RTJ - Been some time since I have done a sprint . Forgot how much fun it is . Could only do very little this time but sure going to try more for upcoming ones . 72 to all

N2GDS - On vacation and couldn't operate indoors, so I set up a vertical whip on the beach, in the dark, with a loading coil and an EFHW tuner that I normally use for SOTA activations. Rig was a homebrew direct-conversion receiver with a transmitter rockbound to 14060 and 14062. So no hunting and pouncing, just CQing and hoping!

W8GG - Hello Fellow Sprinters ! I fired up on 20m and heard several stns calling CQ NA, but only bagged one N2GDS. So i went to 40m where things were really hopping. worked 21 QSOs there. Strange condx here in Mid-Michigan. Almost nothing heard west of the Mississippi, but EAST and SOUTH were very gud. I heard Ol' pal N8LA calling , but after a moment he disappeared into the either. Had a Beeline into New England, and had a nice run fer abt 30 mins. After an hour i went to 80m and work 3 more there. Got the 2fer wid WT4U. Just as 80m seemed to be picking up, i had to pull the plug early to walk impatient dog. A fun evening with 25 Q's in just over an hour. Hope to see u all next sprint. 73 Gregg W8GG

N5GW - KX3, hb straight key & doublet. I could only operate the first hour, because a squall line of T storms including lightning arrived.

W4LSV - Only on for 20 minutes High Power Contest Stations made it a real challenge on 40 meters at 0230Z

KD3CA - Only spent about half hour in sprint . 40 mtr band was good here. CU in the 160 mtr sprint . All the very best t0 all . 73 Don

KA2KGP - Nice turnout this Sprint with good band conditions. Rig: IC-7000 into a G5RV up 25 ft. w/straight key. 73 all

WB1GYZ - Thanks to all for another fun Sprint.

K3CKO - i MESSED UP THE FIRST 18 CONTACTS BY SENDING THE WRONG MEMBER NUMBER. more THAN HALF OF THE STATIONS I WORKED SENT ME A WRONG NUMBER. this WAS MY FIRST SPRINT IN OVER A YEAR I'm still confused.

WT4U - Heard and lost one station on 20m. Lots of action on 40m. 80m was pretty good, and reasonably long, but I ran out of new stations to work with 30 minutes left on the clock. Now to go hang a longer wire for next week!

AA0W - Contest on 40 M switched to 80M for a few contacts. Winter storm made 80M difficult.

WA2FBN - Condx on 40m were good tonight. Used LNR MTR 3B (older version with one digit LED display) and Vibroplex paddle. Only had time to work first half of the sprint. 72 Ken WA2FBN

AK3X - Forgot all about the sprint until I heard NQ2W calling CQ NA. On had about 15 minutes to play but 80 was is good shape. 72 to all.

N2JJF - Only had half an hour to play radio but i had a lot of fun. Lots stations on 40

KN1H - Operating portable from campground at Lake Pleasant, AZ. In the desert on the shore of a lake, oddly enough! 12V battery, 28' wire which tuned up well on 20 and 40, KX2 and KY 605/U straight key. Thanks to Will, NQ2W for the 2-fer! 72, John, KN1H/7

KN2G - NEVER GETS OLD!

W2SH - 20m was getting ready to close but yielded two QSOs. Its skip zone was fairly short. 40m and 80m were both active, and my QSOs were evenly split between those two bands.

KC3MIO - We had to go to our son's house in NE NJ to babysit GD while his wife worked. I brought my rig and set up a 65' LNR EFHW hanging off a Spiderbeam mast at 30' sloping to 5', running NNW/SSE. I sat out on the deck, about 42F, but the stars were out and the planes were on approach to Teterboro. There was no wind and it was comfortable to work my CW Morse straight key without gloves. I was pleasantly surprised by the low noise levels on 40 & 20 and I wanted to do the whole sprint, but I stopped after an hour to keep peace in the household. Used HAMRS to log on iPad which imported nicely into Sprintlogger. A good time as usual and thanks to my contacts and the NAQCC. Happy New Year and CUAGN on the 160 sprint.

N8LA - I HATE COMPUTERS !!!!!!!! THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE TRIED TO ENTER THIS INFORMATION. WHEN I HAD ENTERED ALL THE CONTACTS AND WAS DOING SOAP BOX, IT DELETED EVERYTHING !!!!!!! KX-3; 5W; 200' Dipole Up 35', NAQCCode Warrior with W8GG finger pieces wired as dual paddle side swiper by AD0BI. Thanks to all who worked me and apologies to all I was unable to work. After I sent Gregg W8GG my information, I lost him. I thought the smoke wafting into the shack from an adjacent condo may have been from someone jumping the gun with the impending legalization of recreational Marijuana here that was affecting my brain, but my XYL assured me that it was just cigar smoke, not Saint Louie Whewie competing with Maui Wowie! Best 72, Lou, N8LA
