QSO-A-DAY Award

Comments:

This award, which is renewed annualy, is designed to encourage hams to spend more time on the CW bands thus increasing the CW presence there which is so important in this day and age. The award was initially suggested by K4UK in a QSO with K3WWP late in 2004. It is based on K3WWP's 'streak' of having made (and continuing to make) at least one QRP/CW QSO each day since August 5, 1994.

Note the new additional DX endorsement.

Time Frame For Qualifying QSO's:

January 1, 0000Z through December 31, 2400Z of the current year. The award starts over again each year.

Basic Award Premise:

Make at least one QSO per day.

Categories:

1. FULL YEAR - Make at least one QSO on each of the 365 (366) days during the calendar year.

2. PARTIAL YEAR - Make at least one QSO on each day of the following number of calendar months in the calendar year:
2A. 11 MONTHS
2B. 10 MONTHS
2C. 9 MONTHS
2D. 8 MONTHS
2E. 7 MONTHS
2F. 6 MONTHS
2G. 5 MONTHS
2H. 4 MONTHS
2I. 3 MONTHS
2J. 2 MONTHS
2K. 1 MONTH
3A. 30 DAYS - Make at least 1 QSO on each day of a consecutive 30 day period during the year. The 30 days can span months.

A 30 DAYS award can count as a calendar month for any of the #2 awards. For example 3 30 DAYS and 4 MONTHS would count as 7 MONTHS, BUT none of the 30 DAYS awards can overlap any of the MONTHS. Questions, please ask.

Equipment:

YOU:
Power: QRP
Antenna: Any

HAM YOU WORK:
Power: Any
Antenna: Any

QSOs:

Rag chew, DX and contest QSO's are acceptable. QSO's made via a regular sked or regular net check-ins are not acceptable.
A particular station may be worked any number of different days for your QSO, but not by pre-arranged scheduling.
Starting time of the QSO determines the date. That is a QSO starting on Feb 3 at 2330Z and continuing till Feb 4 at 0030Z counts ONLY as a QSO for Feb 3.

Other:

Once you apply for and receive a PARTIAL YEAR award, you CANNOT use the months from that award towards a further PARTIAL YEAR award. In other words, if you earn a 2 MONTH AWARD for January and February, you CANNOT use January and February for a 3 through 9 MONTH AWARD later that year. NO overlapping months for PARTIAL YEAR awards.

So take that into account and perhaps hold your submissions until the end of the year, then apply for the total number of months you completed.

For classes 2A through 2J, the months do not have to be consecutive.

A day is defined as 0000-2400 UTC.

Certificate:

A certificate sent to you via email is FREE. You may make a monetary donation, only if you wish to do so. There is no obligation to do so. If you want us to print your certificate and send it via regular mail, the fee is $3.00 per certificate.

Endorsements:

An award endorsement will be issued if all 9 HF CW bands are used for making the QSO's.

A special endorsement will be issued if all QSO's are made using simple wire antennas.

The award may be endorsed for making each daily QSO with mW power.

The award may be endorsed for all QSOs being DX QSOs.

Endorsements may be applied for ONLY with the original award application, NOT after that.

Logs:

Submit a log with one line for each QSO containing at least the following info sorted in ascending order by date:
Date, Time, Call, Band. For mW QSO's add the power used.

Also include the total number of QSO's made in the time frame.
