THE 1920 CHICAGO TAXI WARS

PREMISE:
If you took a cab in Chicago around 1920, you probably rode with either the Yellow Cab Company or the Checker Cab Company. By that time other real competition had fallen by the wayside and these were the only two major firms riding the streets. The taxi business was anything but a friendly rivalry. Violence was frequent and shootings and deaths became a part of the scenario.

July 27, 1920 ... two rival south side cabbies engage in a fistfight. The fight enlarges and soon the action expands to the west side of town and then into a city wide melee. Pistol shots ring out from a lone cab into a garage of its rival company. Answering shots are fired from the garage and a fleet of cabs later emerge. They drive past a rival garage and deliver a volley of pistol fire. Soon fleets of armed cabbies are engaging around the city in groups and individually, firing upon buildings and each other. This lasts until daybreak. Three drivers are arrested and miraculously, no casualties are reported to the police. Less dramatic skirmishes do, however, continue.

June 9, 1921 ... a Yellow Cab driver is shot and killed at a taxi stand. A confession later links the shooting to a Checker Cab drive by. Pressure from city hall and the police slow the incidents, but armed flare ups occur again in 1923 and 1925. By the end of the 1920s the taxi industry had, for the most part, settled down and abandoned their hostile clashes.

TIME FRAME:
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z

RULES:
Just make ALL these words from calls of stations you work subject to the General Challenge Rules. (Any spaces in the phrases should be ignored. For example the challenge phrase "INVERTED V ANTENNA" should be treated as if it is the single word "INVERTEDVANTENNA.")

TAXI WARS
CHECKER CAB CO
YELLOW CAB CO
FISTFIGHTS
JULY 27 1920
PISTOL ENGAGEMENTS
DRIVE BY SHOOTING

The 83 total letters contain these 29 different letters and numbers: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P R S T U V W X Y 1 2 7 9 0

You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.

Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.

See General Rule #5 for more details on what callsign letters can be used.
