Soapbox:
SM5MEK: This is my first challenge at NAQCC, have done two at NAQCC-EU with good results. This gives me a goal to do more cw qrp qso,s. And also, it,s fun. Ive had luck with some dx stns. I really like to operate cw qrp and qrs. No stress to receive. 73 from Jenny # 6959.

WY3H: Had this one done in 6 days but procrastinated getting it together and sent off. For me, this one was one of the smoothest going challenges I've worked a long time. Thanks to all I worked and best 73/72 to all. Tom, WY3H

K9OSC: Excellent Challenge - worked all 26 stations that it took to complete the Challenge on 40 meters. Conditions were certainly up and down but a great time. Look forward to the next one.

K1IEE: Found the bands much more active for DX in the early mornings. My two hard to finish letters were T and S. 73 to all. Dick

K3WWP: Once again it was the usual subjects causing trouble and delaying the finish of a challenge. Yes, those elusive letter Rs. Probably took me a week or so to get those last couple letters (which also delayed my completing the European Chapter challenge) and finish things off. Sometimes I think there ought to be a law against our challenges. No one should be allowed to have that much fun out of just gathering a few letters here and there. I sure am glad Tom WY3H came up with these alphabet challenges nearly 10 years ago now. What a joy they have been to me.

N8XMS: As always, this was a lot of fun. I had a nice mix of domestic and DX QSOs and all bands from 10 through 40 meters. Happy New Year everyone! 73, Paul

KD0V: I HAD A VERY HARD TIME FINDING CALL CONTAINING "I's". IT WAS A GOOD CHALLENGE THE BAND CONDITION WERE GOOD MOST OF THE TIME. MUCH BETTER THAN DURING THE SPRINT. I REALLY GOT SURPRISING RESULTS ON 40M USING MY NORCAL 40A. IT IS A GREAT LITTLE RIG AT 2.5 WATTS. 72, MERLIN

WB9G: My first attempt at a challenge. This really was fun, especially the work to find a station for that last letter "T." I can't wait for February to start to begin work on the next one. 72 to all de Chris

K1YAN: Ran this one down to the wire. Last three letters came the morning of Jan 31. Lost three QSOs for the necessary letters to QSB and marginal conditions and one DX station who just couldn't get my call.

WU1V: Didn't make the challenge for January, missed out on Times Square (lacking an S, T and Q) and Noise Makers (lacking 2 Ss) hihi. Only made 35 Qs all month, very light activity for me, but I had fun anyway. Hopefully next month I'll do a little better. 72, Rick

VE3FUJ: Lovely Challenge, enjoyed it. Was hampered a bit by Pre X-Mass Ice-storm damage to my main antenna that cant be fixed till spring or if a big thaw comes along B4 that. Second, my K2 broke down part months, it needed a new set of Finals, imagine blowing a set of Final never going over 5W. ( It was suggested that either power line spike or static caused the problem, (good thing I had the foresight to have a couple of replacement kits in stock which contains all likely components should the aforementioned happen. Also I strongly believe that if you have a spare on hand, nothing is likely to happen Hi Hi). Power line spike was unlikely as I have a nice power-line filter, so that leaves Static, I also have a Antenna Switch which grounds antennas not in use, situated between antenna and couplers.) , Took a week to find the exact problem as well as having enough time on hand so as not to be interupted. Meanwhile, I was limited to 1 1/2W from my Sierra and a secondary antenna. Things went better than expected, just that " MITS " were in very short supply, even non-existent. Hope to do better in February now that K2 is back on line as of yesterday. Brion 3011

W2JEK: THIS WAS A GOOD CHALLENGE AND A LOT OF FUN. AT THE END NEEDED A LETTER "S" FOR TWO WORDS. HAD MY HEADPHONES LAYING ON THE DESK WHILE ON A 2M FM NET. HEARD A CQ ON THE PHONES AND FOUND AE0SL CALLING. STAN AND I HAD A NICE 2W QRP QSO AND I HAD THE LETTERS FOR THE CHALLENGE. HE IS ALSO A NAQCC MEMBER

PREMISE:
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year with this challenge to make words relating to New Year celebrations.

TIME FRAME:
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z

RULES:
Just make ALL these words from calls of stations you work:

TIMES SQUARE
MIDNIGHT BALL DROP
CHAMPAGNE
NOISE MAKERS
PARTY HATS
FIREWORKS
STRAIGHT KEY NIGHT

The 81 total letters contain these 22 different letters: A B C D E F G H I K L M N O P Q R S T U W Y

You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.

Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.

See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges.

AWARDS:
A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

PRIZES:
Some challenges involve a prize. Check the Prize page in the main section of the web site for more info.

LOGS:
For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in:

WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD

Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D.

You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.
