Band is quiet. K3RLL - 1946 Vibroplex Deluxe since 1955: Was a fast half-hour with lots of good signals on 40m and not much QRM or QRN. Nice to work such a good portion of OTs (numbers older than mine). This is a lot more fun with a 'wire in the clear' antenna here in PA. 72/73 ... Don W2QL - Played for ~ 30 minutes using a remote contest station from New York, with the power turned down to 5 watts. 3 ele on 20, 2 ele on 40. WB1GYZ - Where was everybody? Slim pickings tonite. Pulled the plug after 40 min. VE3DQN - The combination of weak signals and heavy QRN was too much for my ears to take for more than a half hour tonight. Sorry for not giving more folks the ON multiplier. NF5U - Limited time tonight, got on a bit late and had to pull the plug at 0200. Lots of good signals and ops on tonight. Everyone take good care of yourselves and I'll catch you next month if not sooner. 73s Jerry NF5U WB4OMM - Used a new antenna tonight, but the propagation and storm noise (local thunderstorm) made for poor conditions here on the Central Florida Coast. Nothing on 20M, worked 40M some, went back to 20M and worked N0TA and AA5LH both in CO! Then band dead again. Back to 40M, made a few more, went to 80M and heard only one signal - WA2NNY...worked him, could hear nothing else. Back to 40M and now the nose was worse, but did manage W2SH and N4MJ - Glenn N4MJ and K1MZM had the loudest signals here tonight - but still not very strong. O' sunspots, PLEASE come back!! 72/73 to all, see you next month! Steve WB4OMM K4KBL - Brutal static crashes but still had a great time... KC0DD - WOW QRN AND QSB WAS CRAZY HR . BUT ENJOYED THE EFFORT WIFE AND I ARE DOING PRISON TIME HI HI COVID 19 GOT US DOWN LOOKS LIKE WE WILL SURVIVE BUT HARD ON OLD FOLKS HAVE A BLESSED DAY K2CWM - Used my old IC-7200 at 5 watts to a vertical. Kent straight key. Always nice sprint. Curt K2CWM NJ WG8Y - Hi all, Not my nite.Played with my Elecraft KX1 that I picked up right before FD. I just couldn't get with it tonite. Made 3 S&P Q's & pulled the plug. 72 from N.C. Mark WG8Y AB9BZ - Fun sprint - 20M was very good here, 40M was very noisy. Thanks for the contacts, 73 de ab9bz AA9L - WoW! Great sprint. Lot's of activity. Never left 40. KN1H - Thanks to all for another fun sprint! Had to struggle a little with the July noise to hear and be heard but it was a good time. 73, John, KN1H KC5F - Started out slow, but ended up alright. 20m signals low, 80m noisy, but 40 worked out well. Lots of fun! KC2EGL - First sprint in AGES. And fist sprint from my new QTH. Heard a few NAQCC signals but only had luck in logging one. Thank you AA9L for logging me tonight. Hope to see you on the radio next month. 73 KC2EGL Rig KX3 Key US Navy Flameproof N2RIC - Listened on 80m. Responded to a couple of CQ NA calls during the last 30 minutes or so of the Sprint, but no responses. Maybe next month. K0EW - Good sprint tonight. I didn't hear anything on 80M. 20M was more active than usual here. N8HWV - Heard lots of activity on 40 m, some on 20 and 80 was dead. Even called CQ this time and got a couple calls. Tnx all. W0EJ - Had a great time, tnx to all for the QSOs, apologies to those I could not pull out. 72 Bill K3JZD - The QSB was challenging. Very few strong signals. 40m was both long and short. Nice turnout. KX3 - 40m Dipole @ 25' Jody - K3JZD AI6SL- Very poor conditions out west. Too early for 80m, 40m was usable towards the end, and only very weak signals on 20m. But we need to work with the ionosphere we have. WB9HFK - I had to wait until the Storms cleared the area this evening. I got on for about the last 40 minutes. QRN levels were pretty high. Thanks for the Q's and see everyone next month! 72, Mark WB9HFK KC9IL - Only had a half hour to operate this evening. Despite the rain storms all around, was able to pull folks out on 40 meters. Thanks everyone and stay healthy. KF7WNS - 20m was open, but heard most stations on 40. N0TA and K4BAI were two banders. Thanks all WA2NYY - Another fun sprint tonight. Made a couple of contacts on 20 and then moved to 40, which was noisy here. I was fighting with the digi guys and had to move around a lot to get away from them. Made about the same number of contacts on 40 and 80. Strong signals from N4OW, KN1H, and WX4RM. 72 Mark AC2YD - New member ... Nice way to meet some folks! Running Softrock RXTX Ensemble via Quisk S/W transceiver, 2 watts. Interrupted the contest to answer a CQ from F6FAI on 40 meters, for 10 minute QSO from here in NJ ... physics and nature are amazing! Thanks, everyone! KJ4R - Started out on 20, but conditions there were terrible. Heard at least 3 stations at one time on 14.060 and could pull out any single call. Moved around and worked 2 stations and moved to 40 where things seemed a little better, but deep QSB there at times. Signals would go from S7 to nil in a few seconds. There were several that called me that I just could not pull out and had to ask for lots of repeats for the ones I could hear well enough to attempt to work. Thanks to all those that had patience to stick with me. Had a decent run going on 40 until a DX station came and ran me off the freq. Guess he could not hear me. Did S&P on 40 for a while and then moved to 80 with about 15 minutes left. Worked a few on 80, but QRN was awful here in SC. Always a fun time even with the challenges of noise and deep fades. Used KX3 this month to verticals. Welcome to recent new member AC2YD! 73 till next time. KC9TQR - Had a lot of fun. Quite a bit of QRN, but I guess that goes with the season. Thanks to all. KF6C - Haven't done NAQCC sprint for a while, made a mess of things at first, had a rag chew in the the middle, then a lot of fun running 40 in the last hour. Had to keep checking the radio power output, it seemed to good to be only running 5 watts out. N4MJ - Another fun evening generating electrons. K9QEW - 40m operations only. Heavy QRN first hour otherwise band condx fair. Good activity. HB Funmitter xtal control & J38 key to a 4BTV GP, 72/73s and Stay Tuned Daryl VA3NU - Lots of action on 40M tonite. Many more heard but no luck. 72 til next month. AD0YM - Nice to have 20 meters open at the start. Lots of activity tonight. Forty meters was very noisy; missed a few opportunities as a result. Strong thunderstorms to my east and also out west. I did not work anyone on 80 meters; heard one NA station briefly, but noise was deafening. W2JEK - Fair conditions but much QSB and QRN. Had fun any way.Rig Yaesu FT-840 at 5W. 72 DON W2JEK K8NGW - Good signals with slow fading on 20. Lots of noise on 40. The bug was working well tonight! K5TSK - Did a little search and pounce early and late, TV with the XYL in the middle. Thanks for those who pulled me out of the mud. 72, Hank. N0AR - Used the KX3 @ 5 watts to do battle with the QRN. Good to work so many stations to the North, nice treat. Very enjoyable way to spend some radio time. 72's Scott N0AR NF8M - I thought condx were flaky on 40 but as the evening progressed I had a nice run, then switched to 80 and worked a few there. Tnx es cu next month! N4SO - Only could work 3 stations in the first half hour. Best consistent strong signal-AB9CA. Ken N4SO AL N8KQ - Always forget about the Sprints. Hope to do a lot more. Thank You to all I worked. Randy K4KRW - The bands were so bad here that I had to look outside to make sure my doublet wasn't lying on the ground. Very few signals and very weak. Thanks everyone. W3TTT - I used my QCX 40 on 40 meters for the first hour. I heard some strong stations like WB40MM, but they did not come back to me. Switched to 80 meters on my Yaesu at five watts. Made five contacts there. Enjoyed the time on the air. Thanks to the club and the sprint organizers. Attitude of Gratitude! NN9K - Setup on my favorite hill in the rain but that stopped about half way through the Sprint. Gentle breeze with 66 degree temp made for a nice evening. Propagation wasn't bad either. N8LA - KX3, 5W, 200' Dipole @ 35', CW Morse Black Plastic Hand Key. Nasty storms came through shortly before beginning of sprint. Since last sprint we have taken in two four month old litter mate female kittens. Each believes they are the alpha cat. That keeps things "lively" around here. Noise level here 9 to 9+20. Apologies to all I could not pull out because of QSB and QRN. I hope we can connect next time. My hopes and prayers for full good health to all of you and all of your loved ones. Best 72, Lou N8LA WI8J - First Sprint since Feb. Made contacts on all 3 bands. Great fun! 72 KE5YUM - Weak signals and noise prevailed during the sprint. I am thankful for NN9K who worked me. FT 817 @ 5 watts. WB8LZG - Hello Fellow Sprinters! Fired up the Ftdx1200 last night on solar power at 5 watts. Nice condx fer a summer sprint here in MICH. 20M was open nicely fer the 1st hour and provided many gud QSOs. 40M was doing well also. Interesting propagation though. I usually have a beeline to TX, AL, FL, but didn't work to many from the southland. Seemed I had a MAX RANGE bubble of abt 1000 miles. SRI to the chap who was calling me and I couldn't quite pull u out, maybe 7 lander?? 40 was plenty noisy , but lots of stns to work. Nice to hear many of the old gang on. and a few NRs# over 10000 too. Grabbed a couple on 80 just to round it out. Great fun for 2 hrs. See u all next month. 73 , Gregg WB8LZG AA0W - First hour conditions were very poor better in the second hour. On 40 M only Thanks to all for the QSO's. KX2 internal battery WA2FBN - Poor band condx tonight. Only had luck on 40m. Tnx and 72 Ken KG4MTN - Was a tough night due to QSB and QRN, but was able to make a few QSOs with my HOA antenna. This is my first Sprint in several months, sure enjoyed it!! K4BAI - 20 and 80 were better than would be expected. 40 was steady as usual. QSOs by band: 20M: 26. 40M: 15. 80M: 4. Thanks for all QSOs. 73/72, John, K4BAI. N8APO - Lots of signal heard here (west of Akron OH) with very good sprint conditions. Stayed on 40 meters. This was the most contacts (16) I have made in any sprint! So nice to hear such interest in low power operation! KD3CA - Conditions pretty tough with the QRN and QSB , many tnx for all the calls , Sorry to a few stations I just couldn't get call with the QRN . All the very best to all 73 Don VE3KZ - Thanks for the QSO's under heavy QRN here. VE3SIF - THANK YOU to everyone that worked hard to hear me. 72 Ron K8ZAA - Had fun in my second NAQCC sprint. Totals were a little short of my first sprint. I think I need to improve my 40 meter antenna. Try to get it higher or something. I had trouble being heard by stations that were 589 at my end. Thanks to all. N8XMS - I operated for the first hour of the sprint and had a great time. I used my 1967 Vibroplex bug with my K2 and old R7 vertical to make a total of 25 Qs. Two were on 20-meters and the rest were on 40. Thanks to everyone that put up with my rather poor bug fist! AB9CA - Ran the IC-7200 at 5w. Activity seemed good. QSB was quick and sometimes deep. 20 seemed short. Only one CA station. None from OR or AZ. Only a few from TX. Noise did not seem too bad on 40. Went to 80 near the end but no one answered my calls. Tnx for the Q's! VE7HI - Have not tried a sprint in a long time due mostly to poor condx . Tried at start and made a couple of incomplete QSO's. Finally hit paydirt late in the time slot with SOTA activator Bruce Thanks for the sprint. Will be back soon! WX4RM - Heard lots of signals, but my little antenna just couldnt get my signal out tonight. Hurry up sunspots!!! N2JJF - Tough going on 40m.nothing heard on 20m. first contact on 80m after 24 minutes. still love the sprints making contacts with 5watts. KB1M - QSB was fast and deep, making for challenging copy at times, QRM seemed to pop up out of nowhere at times. I had a very fun evening working some great CW operators. 72, Walt N4OW - Not the best conditions by a LONG shot:) Local noise, Many sigs were down in the grass. Nothing heard on 20 early. Some amazing 599 sigs out of the NE. 72 de AL, N4ow 7700 - CU next month. K4JPN - No sooner got on then heard all sorts of static, then a lighting flash. Shut down, grounded the antennas and decided to wait till next month. Station and everything OK. 72, Steve K4JPN VE9BEL - Almost forgot about the sprint, Just worked the last hour. It was a lot of fun anyway. 73 Bernard N7QR - 46th Sprint. KX3, 1958 Vibroplex Presentation, Butternut HF6V gnd mtd vert w/o radials. Only the first half hour. Heard a couple on 40, they could not hear me. 80 and 20 dead. CU next time. Russ - Portland OR KA2KGP - 20m. was weak, only 4 QSO's there. 40m. & 80m. were good here in WNY this sprint. Rig: Icom IC 7000 at 5w. into G5RV up 25 ft. w/ WWII German Junkers straight key. 73 to all KQ1P - Only spent a short time on the air. We had a clear sky and we wanted to go look for the comet NEOWISE. I don't plan to be around the next time this comet comes by, but I will be here for the next sprint. AK3X - Started 30 minutes late and had lots of interruptions so only a few contacts. A fun sprint nonetheless. Argonaut V at 5 watts and my trusty Speed X key. 72 to all. Peter KC3MIO - An up and down affair, satisfying and frustrating at times. Started off on 20, hit 40 and 80 and ended on 20. Nice to see 20 operational - how long will 20 be usable for the sprint? It was the quietest band from PA. Worked from my deck and once I turned a light on so I could see my log, I got an amazing variety of moths flying around, including one that kept flying up my sleeve. The next day I looked at the mess that was my paper log and it took some detective work to figure out the QSOs. Wished I could have worked AI6SL - heard him but he couldn't hear me. That's propagation. As usual, a fun two hours - thanks to all for the QSOs and sorry if I couldn't complete one with anybody. WT4U - Conditions were tough and the flesh was weak, but got on for a bit. We usually get member applications during the Sprint, and hardcore contest operator that I am (ha!), I stop and process them. This time K0WRY heard the action and wanted in. N5GW - I was pooped out from oudoor work, so only a cameo appearance! Bands were noisy due to local T storms. Try for more next month. WY7N - Late! Did sprint from SOTA summit W7U/SL-016 overlooking the Kennecott Bingham Copper Mine. W2SH - With protracted daylight 20m was open for the first half hour, becoming a bit unstable before it closed down. 40m was not noisy and had plenty of activity. 80m deserves more attention, but stay fairly clear of 3560 for several minutes around 0200Z when a traffic net or two will be QRV. Almost all 80m signals are loud enough to overcome the summer QRN. My final station logged for the night was an easy 80m QSO using the dipole with KJ4R, 570 miles distant. AA5LH - Thanks everyone for trying this evening. Should have stayed on 20M. Heard very little on 40M/80M. Stay safe & see ya next month KN2G - Challenging night for me. Just after dark the static hurried into a raw crescendo. I pulled the plug to let my ringing ears quiet down. I'm gonna check the yard light out.... |
