N8LA - KX-3, 5W, 200' Dipole @35', Western Union 2A Legless Hand Key. Started on 20 calling CQ but was unable to pull out of QRN stations calling me: my apologies to all of them. Went to 40 and was able to work some, including former home boy Gregg, WB8LZG. Checked 80 but didn't hear anyone, even after calling CQ. Back on 40, heard N5IR calling CQ and gave him a call. Twenty-three minutes later we finished a FB QSO; is that anathema? Just getting around to recording sprint contacts after returning from Woodstock and celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of my attendance there in '69 (RIIIIIGHT!!!!!) Until next time, Best 72/73 to All. Lou, N8LA
W8WEU - First NAQCC Sprint. Thanks to those who copied my very weak signal. SWA is currently at 16'. Hope to get it elevated soon.
KI0G - High local noise was the main problem. Called on 20 but heard nothing. Could not tune 80.
K3RLL - Using my 1946 Vibroplex Deluxe bought by mowing lawns in 1955 and enjoyed the flurry of activity heard on 40m this evening. KB1M was big signal here. That was one really fun half-hour. 72/73 and thanks to all ... Don
WG8Y - Hi all,20m was open for app 45min. here in NC.Went to 40m till last few minutes.Lots of signals. Then tried calling CQ on 80m. QRN was big time! Sorry I missed the 4 land that called me. Went back to 40m & worked 2 more Q's. Had fun working everyone. Looking forward to the fall & maybe less QRN. 72 from N.C. Mark WG8Y
K5MBA - KX2 to my new homebrew Bravo-7KR on 40M using wire elements. S&P on 40M only. I made several contacts at the start of the sprint, then fought QRN & QSB for an hour or so. After QRN and QSB cleared up, I made several more contacts and the sprint ended. Had a great time and happy to see my homebrew Bravo- 7KR appears to be working. 73's Bob
AD0YM - Nothing on 20 meters tonight. Forty meters was noisy, but that is where I found folks to work. Thanks all! Did not hear anyone on 80m consistent enough to work, thus no contacts on that band. It was a one band night.
W4EDN - NOISY AND ONLY ON 40 DID I HEAR ANYONE.
W2SH - 20m stayed open for a good half hour with medium skip distances. 40m was delightfully free of QRN and QSB and provided most of my contacts. 80m was sparsely populated and very noisy. Tentec 539 (Argo 6) manipulated by a Junker straight key that weighs 2.3 pounds and stays put at the operating position.
KD9EBS - Greetings: Only had time for the last 30 minutes. Tried running 1 watt on my Alinco. No luck Perhaps next sprint will have more time. Thank you. 72! .
KF7Z - Poor conditions tonight, but every now and then the gods would let one through, KF7WNS was the strongest signal all night. I ran a K3s to a dipole up 25' running north and south with 5 watts out for power. Thanks for the QSOs 72 Danny
K4KRW - KX3 and Begali Blade tonight. I was late getting started because of work. I called for 5 or more minutes before I got a reply. After that, things picked up nicely. All contacts were on 40m. I listened on 80m but heard nothing. Thanks everyone. W4SAA, thanks for the call. Hope to hear you again. 73, Richard .
KG6UBG - heard solid signals from KF7Z and KC7DM, but cud not log them. 73 Mike in 6 land
AK3X - XYL did not get the memo on the sprint, so I got "diverted". 8 whole minutes of fun. 72 til next month. Peter .
VE3GNU - Despite all hopes and dreams, conditions are not improving at all. My worst posted score ever, so left early. TT Jupiter @ 5 W. and Begali paddle. 73---
K9QEW - A good work out for my HB MOPA xtal conrolled "Funmitter" 40m Band condx fair with QSB/QRN. Hopefully someday the solar flux numbers will increase so as to improve band conditions. Till then STAY TUNED! .
N8NK - VICTORY! Submitting one QSO for NAQCC stats. Needed ant for 80 Sprint night. 4 mos ago strung up a 130' wire to use with my 7 tap unun. Wire needed trimming. Cut 2' off and fell backwards out of the barn loft window, breaking my leg in 2 places and tearing tendons. I'm happy to report this great success! The wire works great. 72 to all!
AB9BZ - Thunderstorms rolled through just before sprint. I setup portable in a nearby park - I could hear lots of stations, but wasn't being heard. Tnx for the QSO and sprint. .
KF6C - Great fun, but I was ready for bed before it started.
AI6SL - Tough going. .
NR3Z - It is always fun to work familial calls and new ones too. Only worked the first 30 minutes as I just got back home a half an hour before the contest started.
W2JEK - Soapbox - Very poor condx on 40 made 3 qso there and went to 80 and got 2 more. No power failure or storm this time. 72/73 DON W2JEK .
KG5HCF - Enjoyed it as always and tnx to nf5u for getting me on the board. 72
KB9ILT - I was off the grid and campground portable in WV using a K1 and an end fed wire at 20 feet.
KA2KGP - Nice Sprint! 20m. was open for a while, 40 & 80 were in good shape but QRN on 80m. Rig: ICOM IC-7000 at 5w. into G5RV up 25 ft. 73 to all
N5GW - I was using my K1 preparing for the upcoming Skeeter Hunt. 20M was in good shape for a change, allowing 14 contacts before it either closed or all sprinters departed for 40M. The latter band was full of QRN, but several good signals were coming through. Did not even try 80M.
KG5ZID - There was lots of QSB and my 4BTV is not very efficient but I managed to stick it out for two hours, got lots of code practice, and was excited that my 5w was heard 500 miles away.
K4KBL - On for about an hour, heavy QSB and static crashes in GA. Still had fun. Looking forward to the October anniversary celebration !!
KF7WNS - 20 QRN was pretty tough, only a few stations heard through the noise. 40 was in pretty good shape, many signals heard at the end.
WA2FBN - Tough band condx. Tnx to all who copied me. 72 Ken
NX1K - NX1K - Good combination of short and long distances. First sprint in a long time. I forgot how much fun it was.
AC2C - Got off to a good start then the XYL had issues that needed attention.
N4OW - 20 was good early, not many stations heard in FL. 40 seemed to be a sweet spot for me had a mini pile up for a while ... 72/73 de N4ow, AL 7700
K1IEE - Bands much better for me this month. QRN was heavy on 40M but did work with it . Made the west coast on 20M. Thanks to all 73 Dick
WI5H - Thunderstorms were in my area. Unfortunately I had a lot of static on 40 and 80 but no rain. Was 107f and very dry ground here today. Checked 20M and only heard one station there. Al N4OW was 589 FL to TX and band sounded good at my location. Just no other stations around. 72 til next time DIT DIT .
WB8ENE - Conditions not great, but still managed to make a few contacts. Thanks and 73, Art
W8EWH - Pretty good conditions tonight on 40M, despite static crashes that seemed to pick up as the night went on. Not much on 20M. Thanks for all who worked hard to pull me out of the noise.
KC7DM - Twenty was good and 40 was exceptional into OR tonight. I didn't hear many CQs go unanswered for long on either band -- hope that most of you had similar condx. Thanks all. .
NF5U - 40m was the only band I could hear anybody on, it took almost 20 minutes to make the first contact. The noise level was S9 here, I apologize to several stations I could not pull out because of all the static. My little Yaesu FT-817nd receiver was stretched to the limit. I enjoyed all the qso's, 73's to all. .
WB8LZG - Hello Fellow Sprinters! Fired up the FTDX1200 at 5W tonight. Almost forgot about the sprint until 10 mins before, I looked at the clock. 20m was open nicely at the start. I worked 8 stations there , but all short skip, No west coast. 40m was open but very noisy here in Michigan. SRI to the VE3 es VA3's who were calling. I couldn't pull u guys out of the noise.Tns to WA4ZOF fer hanging in there to get the call. I worked several stns on 2 bands tonight, and seemed like "ol friends" nite. Nice to run into W2SH, N8LA, N5GW, and WG8Y on 2 bands. Went to 80m fer a couple QSOs but my ears were shorting out. Checked 20m right before 10pm and there was still some action there, but fading. With static pounding my brain, I yanked the cord. Fun nite but not sure how to score. I started out on my straight key and abt 10 QSOs in, I got the dreaded "glass arm" and had to switch to the keyer. So i'm duel keyed. See u all next sprint. Gregg WB8LZG
WX4RM - Was good to see 20 meters open tonight! Lots of QRN with storms all around, but had a good time as usual.
K9DRP - I was surprised at the activity on 20 tonight! Switched to 40 after the first hour, but QRN became almost too strong to work thru for the last 30 minutes. TNX to KC7DM for hanging in there for a west coast contact! Used my kit built HT-1A for this sprint. .
AA9L - 2 tube transmitter and one crystal 7.045. Hard to hold one frequency. Ordered a 7.037 crystal so hope to have some frequency agility next sprint.
NO2D - 20 & 40 ok until thunderstorms rolled in at 0136 UTC. Pulled the plug and grounded the antennas. Fun while it lasted. I've missed the last few and good to get back in the game. Thanks to those who make the sprints possible. Pete, NO2D.
KE5YUM - The bands were really bad tonight which yielded no contacts. Well, better luck next month. Terry
KD3CA - Band conditions were Very QRN here at times with storms about , I did loose a few in the QRN . But overall did pretty well . I managed a bit more time for this sprint. Was fun as usual . Many thanks to all 73 Don
KQ1P - Seemed like a good start, worked Portugal on 20m just before the sprint started...then 1 QSO and zilch. Moved to 40m and although there were plenty of strong signals received, I could not make more than 1 QSO! Fun, yes; frustrating, yes.
KJ4R - KX3 to 33' Vertical. Lots of QRN and QSB to contend with tonight. I was able to work almost everyone I heard. Thanks to N0TA for trying to get my call. Just could not pull it off tonight. Always fun and thanks to everyone for the contacts.
N6HDV - 20 and 40m were closed tight until almost the very end of contest. One 40m contact peeked through before the band closed again. It's these small successes that keep me motivated. .
WA4ZOF - 20 meters the winner to night. 40 QRN to bad QRT @ 0200Z... THANKS to ALL 72 DE WA4ZOF .
AF3Z - I fired up my HW-8. It's receiver is a challenge since you hear signals above and below the carrier frequency; twice as much QRM... and it's pretty wide, too. And then, it's not easy to figure out when you are on the other station's frequency. But it was fun, I'm glad I made 4 QSOs and wasn't 'shut out' ;-) Thanks & 73...
KE3V - Worked for only about an hour, Didn't quite get in a rhythm. Maybe next time. -72
N4MJ - 20m open at beginning but not for long. 40m was it after that and it was NOISY. Tnx to all who participated. If you called and I didn't work you blame the QRN. 73 de n4mj//glenn .
WA2JSG - Used my IC-703 5 watts off an old 12v car battery into a multi-band vertical. BIG ole Kent Straight Key (one of the originals). .
KB1M - I started out not very excited about sprinting, but after the first half hour was having a great time. 72, Walt
N8XMS - Well, our son and his girlfriend decided that this was the night to announce their engagement. Exciting news but it did cut into my available operating time. I stayed on 40-meters where there was a lot of QRN but participation seemed to be good and I managed a decent number of QSOs over about an hour. Thanks to everyone and 73.
KD0V - The worse conditions yet for a Sprint here in southern Minnesota. I heard many stations calling, but the QRN level was S7 and most stations were much weaker or they faded outed before I could get their call.
WB4OMM - Greetings from historic Emmittsburg, MD! Away from the home QTH again this month working, but should be back for next month's Sprint. Conditions here were exceptionally bad, S7 noise across the bands - went straight to 40M, 20M was already closed here. Held out and got 10 Qs in 8 states, very happy with the results! Elecraft KX3 running 5W to a mag mount 40M hamstick. The hamstick absolutely amazes me. Started to rain just as I packed up to go - but no thunder and lightning like at home! Look on my web page for some pics on this month's adventure and the last two out-of-state sprint sessions in AL and CO. www.wb4omm.com . 72/73 to all! Steve WB4OMM
W6SMF - Boy, used all my ears! Worked more or less the entire period for only 4 calls...tnx to all who had patience with me, and those who got away! .
K4BAI - QSOs by band: 20:13. 40:17. 80:1. First half hour on 20 was great with very strong signals, although some couldn't hear me well. Next half hour on 40 was OK with high QRN and QSB. Last hour was a slow slog. Very sorry I couldn't copy many stations who called and many stations I called couldn't copy me. Best heard on 40 was KC7DM in OR, but he couldn't get my call. 73/72, John, K4BAI.
W3TTT - Had to leave in the middle, came back for last 15 minutes for a total of about 30 minutes. This time, I operated on 80 meters only. I had a couple of stations, at about 0120 and 0227 that got my call right but I could not copy. Sorry. They were very patient with my AGN AGN. Thanks for that! .
VA3NU - Some nice signals but the usual QRN QSB mixed in to make it challenging. Couldn't operate the entire event but it was fun. Larry 73
VE3DQN - My best total ever! Got in 9 Q's on 20m before it shut down.
WD5RS - QRN/QSB were terrible. Did manage to pounce on 6 contacts. Fun time again. Thanks to those who suffered thru my Vibroplex Blue Racer 2K.
N8KQ - 40M was very noisy here in Eastern Ohio. Thank You everyone for the QSO's Been a member for awhile, but I think this is my 1st sprint. 72 Randy
WB1GYZ - At least 40 kept improving until the end. The odd part was that I heard many more stations than I could work.
N4ARY - My second sprint and I think I'm hooked. My last QSO with 3 minutes to spare was KC7DM. GA to OR on 3W! Thanks John! What a great event! Thanks to all the sprinters who worked me.
N4API - Lots a static on the band tonight, but had fun for 45 minutes. 73, Brian .
K3EMS - Not a lot of time tonight but a good time none the less.Best of luck to everyone. .
AA0W - Conditions not the best QSB and QRN limited to 40 Meters. KX2 internal battery.
N7QR - IC706, 1958 Vibroplex Presentation, Heard a half dozen stations on in the mud but no takers. Russ Portland OR .
NF8M - Nice night for a sprint but the ionosphere and Mother Nature weren't in the mood. Not much left of 20. 40 was in good shape but much QSB. And 80 was mostly static crashes and traffic nets. RBN only picked me up on 80 in surrounding states and John K4BAI, who has "good ears", couldn't hear me on 80 (nice & strong on 20 tho). Welcome to our 10000+th new members! A historic moment for our club. The more the merrier, as they say. Let's light up the band with our little penlights again. 72 til next month.
AA5LH - The Noise was louder than all stations. just couldn't pull out many heard stations. My apologies to those I tried to work but just didn't connect. Take care all & see you next month.
WB9HFK - 40M only. QSB and QRN were a nuisance the entire run. Sorry to those I could not pull out of the noise. Great to hear old friends and quite a number of newer members. See everyone next month! 72, Mark WB9HFK
