Email ![]() SOAPBOX: KB3CXQ - Noisy W8MRL - Just my second time and I'm still new to CW. I had fun though! W2MDW - A rough one for me! Turned off the CW decoder on the KX3, no more crutches! Difficult time finding patient QRS stations. Waved the white flag early to go work on my copying! 73! AI4SV - I was running between various projects this evening but wanted to get a log in. I spun the dial on 40m and immediately heard the familiar call of Dean NW2K, and a moment later another call from New York, WA2NYY. My key was unexpectedly wobbly, so sorry if my code sounded a little sloshy. I'll tighten it up for the next sprint. 72, Jack KJ4LEN - Made 5 qsos on 20m at the start. Went to 40m and made 7 more. QRN was bad on 40m and 80m. No NAQCC heard on 80m. I only worked the 1st hour of the sprint with my TS130V @5w and Vibroplex original.See everyone next time. Ray WA9NPS - Great trying out my new Hendricks NADC in a Sprint! Nice signals coming in here. 73 & 72 Everyone K1YAN - Nice to hear 20m open for the first hour or so. QRN not too bad on 40m. WU7F - Fun! TNX KG6EYC - First CW Contest for me! Loads of fun! WD5IYT - Saw NT1K's post on Reddit and it reminded me about the sprint. Dug out the K1 and straight key. Fun! KC2EGL - Even though 40M was noisy tonight the signals were awesome. Had one of my best sprints ever. Thanks to all who answered my call. Hope to see you next month in the sprint. 73 Mike. Rig KX3 Key US Navy Flameproof WA2JSG - Only had last 25 minutes to spend. These 12 hour work days hard on this ole guy. Always a fun event. N3PDT - Good conditions here, especially on 20m. Lots of good signals. It still amazes me that in 2 hours, with only "OK" conditions, I can work half the CONUS and a Canadian province or two, with just 5 watts and a piece of wire! Thanks to all, and thanks for the great project book I won in the drawing last month! Fun, fun fun. Elecraft K1, Navy Flameproof Key, 148' foot inverted L, with a 52' vertical leg and 50 radials. WY5R - 20M was open for the duration due to the time change. Couldn't pick up anything on 80M, and I got to 40M too late. Thanks to everyone I worked. 72 and 73 to all. WA2NYY - My best effort so far. I took the straight key out of mothballs and survived. A few extra dits here and there, but it was like riding a bicycle. Changed my tactics tonight to more running and less search and pounce. 40m started slowly but then the band started to go long and get more active. Had some good runs and a couple of mini pileups. WB0PYF - 20M and 40m were in great shape. Thanks for all the new numbers. Used my homemade straight key. W0EJ - First Sprint since relocating out here to SD and I had a great time. First Sprint with straight key so have broken the ice here. My sincerest appreciation to all who suffered my erratic fist, hopefully that will improve with time. Also apologies to the K4??? station I just could not pull out even with the great filtering in this rig. Have to get an adapter to connect my headphones to the KX-3...Thanks to all once again. 72 Bill - W0EJ N0TA - 20m started off great - spent the first hour there. 40m was tough, and didn't hear anyone on 80m. Worked more VE's than usual, plus NV and UT. Thanks for the Q's. K3, doublet & vertical, GenLog. K9ANF - I could hardly hear a thing on 80m, so stayed on 40. 73, Randy K4KRW - Great time as always. Got contacts on 20, 40 and 80. Got my first SD contact. So, that was nice. Wilderness Sierra and a fan dipole. Thanks Everyone. N2WG - Some fun. AE5KA - Portable in Key Largo, FL. Set up on the end of a jetty with the KX3 and AlexLoop Walkham. QRN from a group of intoxicated partying fishermen and the typical Florida thunderstorms made it a bit of a challenge, but it was a nice night to be out! K4ORD - Started on 20M band was in good shape made 6 qso's then on to 40M and boy was the QRN bad made 11 qso's there and checked 80M QRN just too bad made 1 qso then back to 20M and made 14 more qso's, nice to have VE7KRN call me, 20M stayed open the whole time and no QRN! was unable to get the call of a station on 20M in AZ running 5W W7CG OR MAYBE AK7CG not sure. Was running my K2 @5W, my Kenwood PS-50 which I have had for 30 years gave out last Thursday and was putting out 24.5 volts and burned out my K3, waiting for Elecraft to tell me when to send it in for repairs. Thanks to all 73/72 Riley K4ORD KB8FE - Fairly good conditions here in northern Ohio. Stayed on 40 meters. Low static, not much fading. I used my modified Signal Electric hand key as seen at the bottom of my QRZ.COM page. Thanks NAQCC for the Email about the pending sprint! Still need some mild weather for antenna work! N4FZ - Had fun as usual, missed several calls due to QRN/QSB on vertical, need to use dipoles next time, hi. Total of 1 1/2 hours, air time, using KD1JV Tribander w/J-38 Lionel key. Worked 20 and 40m. Thanks all, 73s Gene KE7YTE - I got a few of you tonight. It's not my best but still had fun making contacts with my friends. I tried 80m but no good for me. K3RLL - K2 to nighttime vertical: With the earlier time, it was great to hear 20 meters so alive with Sprinters tonight. Was rolling along until the phone rang. Oh well, people come before radios, right? (Grin) Some very strong signals tonight on 20M including K2YGM, W5BM/M and K2GLS. Congrats to Dan for working the Sprint as a mobile. 72, ... Don AB4QL - Band conditions seemed a little odd on 40M. Very rapid QSB made a few QSO's difficult to copy. Thanks to those who hung in there to make the contacts. Barry K6CSL - Wow! I was a little late on the air, but great band conditions this evening. This was fun. I hope to be on for next months Sprint. Bert, K6CSL N2CN - All three bands were usable this evening. K2UFT - All QSO's made using an ATS3B, recently aquired - worked well but not much of a contest radio! Wish more members would have listened harder. Heard stations in TX, ID, and 7th call area but no contacts. KB0ETU - K-2 with dipole up 35'. Did pretty good on 20 meters and tried 40, but it was just too noisy so went back to 20. Good sprint. Seems like NAQCC members take their own sweet time with cw. I like that. Makes it a lot easier for people like me. Thanks guys for keeping it around 14 ? wpm. See you all in the next sprint. 72, Phil WG8Y - Hi all, another fun Sprint. Good to hear 20 open. I worked N0TA as my 1st Q on 20 and could still hear him with 10 minutes to go. Worked W4YFJ who was in his 1st Sprint. Welcome Bob. Glad to work you. Hope you had as much fun as I did.Just did S&P and QSying between bands. Fun 2 hours ! 72 from N.C. WG8Y Mark K5GQ - Worked 9 minutes. 20M was good. KB9ILT - Started on 20, but only two QSOs, so went to 40 where conditions were much better. Stayed there the rest of the sprint. Great fun as always. WA4ZOF - Great SPRINT agn see you all next month. WA4ZOF WB7EUX - I completed the most exchanges in this sprint. This time I stayed parked on one 40m freq and called CQ NA. Quite fun! Thanks to all for the contacts and to the organizers for setting this up. 73 tom W6VFW - I was only able to participate for the second hour, but had fun despite the bad weather in the area and noisy bands. I am looking forward to the next sprint! 73 de Tony W2JEK - lots of fun and was on for the full two hours. got some on 20 , then to 40- the workhorse band and then finished up on 80. conditions were good. thanks to all. 72 and 73 Don Younger W2JEK #1135 WD0K - 20 was fun! nice signals. Then 40 was the circus act! Digital signals with S9 strength? I'm in the wrong game....ha! Qrn was the ring master. Just missed that SD station! Oh well! wait till next time. 72 and have fun! Rich/664 WB4OMM - My first NAQCC Sprint! What a great time! I actually like the 2 hour format and the "no pressure" pace. Unfortunately for me, I had a large storm with much thunder and lightning just prior to the start of the sprint - and wound up with S8 noise on both 40M and 80M. But 20M was pretty quiet (albeit, a few static crashes in synchronization with the thunder and lightning in the region!) so I stayed there. I haven't used a straight key in years - and don't think I ever used one before in a contest (always had a keyer or used the computer!!) So my heartfelt apologies to all who were subjected to my out of shape fist! This was fun, and I will DEFINATELY BE BACK! Hope I have a "golden log"!!!! 72/73 to all! Steve WB4OMM #5913 NO2D - The sprints are becoming very popular. 40 meters was wall to wall CQ NA here in Colorado. Used my narrowest filter. Lots of fun. Family phone call took precedence, or I might have had quite a run. Pete, NO2D. KB3VWK - 1st NAQCC contest. Thanks it was fun. I think I got it all right. W7GAH - 20m very active with QSB, had a few broken calls. 40m also active with some noise. I was testing the "CW Scrubber" by W0XI recently written up in CQ Magazine. I was also fighting a storm (rain and 20-35 mph winds). Had too much going on to get a good test on the "CW Scrubber" but it does cut the noise and makes listening easier. Enjoyed the sprint as always. Sounds like the number of logs will be up there. 73/72 N1IMW - The Pa and OH boys were out tonight! 40% of my contacts from these 2 states! Strong showing by all on 40 tonight. . .got there and stayed there from start to finish. AE7CG - On 20M, band condition was moderate noise(QRN). Had to work very hard to have 2 TX QSOs with W5IQS and WB5BKL. I heard other stations like AA7VW, WB8LZG, and WB0PYF but couldn't get through to them. That's the challenge I face in using an MFJ Cub running 2 watts to a 10-ft. high dipole. Oh well, there's always next month to try again! VE7KBN - My first NAQCC sprint in a while. Used my HB1B and only worked 20m. Lots of fun and always enjoyable. Thanks to those who put on the sprints and to those who worked to copy the weak signal. I nearly always use a straight key so the bonus points feature for this sprint worked well for me. KF7TDF - My first time trying QRP, great way to hone you recieving skills, looking forward to next one now. K3WWP - A lot of fun tonight. Probably could have done better. I wasted too much time on 20 which just doesn't work well for me in our sprints although I can work the rest of the World easily there. Go figure. Nice to work W0EJ on 20 and 40 and KE7YTE on 40. Of course it's nice to work each and every one of you also. Just pointed out those two because SD is rare in our sprints, and AZ is a good haul on 40 that time of evening. Just about to go off to bed now. K2YGM - Surprised to hear 20m open this late in the evening. Mostly short to the midwest and southern states. After about 40 min, it died out and I switched to 40 and had to deal with static crashes. There seemed to be lots of activity on 40m. Glad for that. 80m on the other hand had just a handful of activity and it dried up quickly. Picked up a straight key at a local hamfest recently and had lots of fun keying the rig this way. Brought back lots of memories. Thanks to all who answered my CQ's, and had patience with my fist. Looking forward to next months sprint. 72 to all Bob K2YGM K7ATN - My first NA Sprint - it was fun! Great to get the J38 out. Even with only one QSO since I needed to leave for a class! NF8M - Just did the 2nd hour & only ran the last 10 min or so. Great condx on 40 & 80 tonite & stns all the way up to W1AW on 40. Several new calls wkd-welcome to the club! CU next month. 72 WX4RM - First day of spring, started snowing like crazy during sprint. Good nite to be on radio. Signals weak on 20 but no noise. 40 had lots of activity, also lots of qrn. After jumping between bands like a bunny doing serch and pounce, I finally found a clear freq on 80 meters and had a good run without losing the frequency. I had fun ! N8LA - 20 was jumpin! 11 QSOs just on it; more that I usually make for the whole sprint! 40 and 80 were good too. A really great night on the bands, topped off perfectly by final two contacts with Father John, K3WWP, and Brother Larry, W9CC!! Made me almost forget about the other sprints I had to make tonight due to milk with long expired freshness date that I drank earlier in the day! AA2VG - That was lots of fun for my first sprint. Next time hope to be able to work the full 2 hours. Thanks Peter AA2VG new member #6563 K2GLS - Happy to find 20M was finally open again, new multipliers not found on 40 or 80. Conditions were good with low noise on all bands. A fun sprint and 72 and 73 to all who pulled my signal out of the QRM and noise. W4DUK - Not a thing heard on 80m, but was nice to see 20m in great shape at my QTH in southwest-central Virginia. Started here for several contacts including AA7VW in Oregon and K5TRI in Washington, then to 40m for a couple more, returned to 20m, and finished back on 40m. Put eight new members (for me) in the log. A fine time! 73, Dave KD0V - It was very nice having 20M open and not having to fight with the digital mode stations on 40M. Nice sprint. 72, KD0V WA2EDN - Interesting Sprint.. Heard only few until 1hr in. Then made some good contacts. K4NVJ - Good condx. Lotta signals. VE3RCN - Only had 25 minutes. Wanted to get another bean in the pot for your submitted log count. 72, Kevin AB9YC - For me, 40M was about the most active band and I was hearing a bunch oc signals; 80M was dead. I only had a short time to work but had fun as usual. N8XMS - What a great time! Good conditions, good participation, and a ton of fun. Thanks to all who participated. See you next month. WA6OEF - Wud hv done more but wasn't prepared. J37T - Off to a good start but had software problems. Next time will log manually if same problem. A poor showing for the first sprint!! KA2KGP - 20m. & 40m. were open & produced a few QSO's but 80m. was the best band this sprint. Rig: TenTec Argosy at 5w. into 5-band dipole up 25 ft. with straight key. KK1X - My debut in the Sprint didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I heard WY3H, KB3AAG, NW2K, N4XS, and K1YAN, but nobody heard me. Ah, well, perhaps next month. K2ZC - Started late and had to quit early. But got 8 qso's in the 30 minutes I operated. It's always loads of fun. Tnx for the contacts KB1UOH - It was a nice sprint. Some of those 5 watters were very strong here in CT. Looking forward to next month. Thanks to all. 73. Charlie NS7E - I had fun my number 5895 AA7VW - Had a good time. East coast where most participants are located were hard to hear however special thanks to W4DUK, N8LA, N2WG, WB4UHC, WB4OMM, N1WPU, W1ZIY, W4SR, K4ORD and WB7EUX (first OR station) for putting up with my weak signal. Band (20m) was ok but thanks to good operators with great patience the event was fun again. VE3GNU - Took a break from the noise for the first half hour, and parked myself on 40---lots of action for an hour, but couldn't add to my success after that and quit shortly after. Argonaut V at 5 W. Thanks to all for another polite and fun-time. K4DXV - Not able to stay on long this month; not much time, and conditions were surprisingly poor. Thanks to all who worked me. Sorry to my regulars that I missed this month. KU4A - We have a new record! I've operated over 50 NAQCC Sprints, and 23 QSOs this month beats my previous best of 20 QSOs in March of 2012. Thanks to everyone for the calls. KG3W - Bands were pretty good tonight. Had my personal best sprint. 40 mtrs was the workhorse band tonight, with 80 next. 20 was open, but slow, with only 4 contacts in 20 minutes. Sorry for the poor cw. I'm using the dah side of my bug as a straight key. Works better for the arthritis in my hands. There were many strong signals tonight. Loudest here was VE3FUJ. All the best and see ya next month. "72" Scotty NW2K - Great conditions and great operators. 20m-26Qs, 40m-32Qs, 80m-19Qs. Activity was excellent. Thank you for the QSOs. 5W, 80-40-20 fan dipole at 40'. K6MGO - Sprint started out with 20m open and signals pouring into CA. However in about 20 minutes noise came up and or signals faded and had to go to 40m for rest of Sprint. Logged more contacts than ever before. Once again no signals heard on 80m. Tnx to all for a very enjoyable Sprint. WD7Y - A lot of fun in two hours. My first time using a straight key in 30 years. I forgot how much work there is using the straight key Hi Hi. Almost missed the sprint I had it on my calendar for March 21 I must keep in mint UCT. I hope to be home for another sprint in April. Ed/WD7Y KA5TJS - Well, I got one contact. At least I showed up. The band was ruff and most were still up on 20 meters I guess. I hope to do better next month. 73's Allen NQ2W - Ten-Tec Jupiter @ 5W to a mini beam at 25' for 20 and an inv V at 40' for 40. Happy 101st Sprint NAQCC! Survivor! was on so I started half an hour late. Thankfully, 20 was still open and I was able to make 15 Q's there. Moved to 40 and made 8. Checked out 80 but didn't hear much there. Always enjoyable. Thanks for all the contacts and thanks to the organizers. Hopefully, I'll hear you all again next month. 72, Will, NQ2W K4JPN - Been under the weather since early Dec, so missed the past couple of Sprints. Good to be well again and on the air. I tried 80M several times in the evening with nothing heard. 40M and 20M were great. 72,Steve K4JPN WY3H - Had to make a last minute repair on my antenna. The 4:1 balun which had been up for about 7 or 8 years turned out to be full of water and badly corroded and replaced it with a simple homebrew center connector. Radio is now a bit noisier, but at least I'm getting out somewhat! At least I got a participation point, but no cigar. VE3BCS - The band 20 m was ok 40 was noisy. But enjoyable. AD7TN - Glad to participate 101th Sprint! Have made 11 QSO which was highest number of QSO I have had in Sprint. TS570V(5W) + 30'LW + J37 straight key 72 de AD7TN Noz N8QY - Good sprint lots of stations on air. 80m qrn, 40m qrm . Nice to see KI8R in sprint solid job Mike. W2SH - None of the three bands was in superb condition. I changed bands six times, a record for me during a two-hour sprint. 40m was just OK; 80m was experiencing a very high level of QRN; 20m managed to stay fairly open throughout the sprint, but was lightly populated. VE3FUJ - Good sprint. I was surprised at the number of 4 character calls I encountered this evening. The multiple count is somewhat lower than usual, but such is the game. I thank all that contacted me, there were a lot of pile-ups so I likely missed a few there. Brion 3011 WB8LZG - Hello agn fellow sprinters, super sprint tonite, used the trusty Argonaut 509 agn tonight on batt power. 20 metres open perty gud. I worked 5 stns on 20, then went to 40 fer a "peek". 40 was vy noisy here in mid Michigan, so i went back to 20 es worked 11 more before pulling the plug at 10pm. Strong sigs on 20 right from the start. after the 1st hr the sigs had some QSB but most were readable. SRI to some of u guys that i couldn't copy. I know a few times i had callers but couldnt quite pull em out of the mud. Hope to see u all agn next month. 73 Gregg K0ALN - Nice to have 20 meters back! 40 seemed to take over later on. AI5I - Limited time for this Sprint (10 minutes) but I came on to give away some points. K4EOR - First time. Slow enough to encourage new CW operators to continue to participate in contesting! W5IQS - Great Sprint. All logged contacts were on 20. I replied to K3WWW at 0033 but never heard his exchange - Sorry. Tried CQNA on 40 about 0200 and heard several replies but unable to complete the exchanges. See you next month. N4SX - Another fun night indeed! Used my ole cheap straight key this time and was surprised how many contacts I made. I seem to have a pipeline to NY and NJ. Only one 80m contact due to qrn and not much business there, but 20 and 40 were both good. Thanks for all the qso's guys and look forward to next month. AC8LJ - Got a late start again, but as always, lots of fun! K5TRI - Ah well .. not in the cards this time. Not many answers to my calls and S&P didn't yield as much results either. Seems my new antenna design (and installation) doesn't work as well as hoped. Maiden voyage for the KX3 which I assembled just the day before. Next time will be better. K1IEE - This was a special sprint for me. After 39 consecutive NAQCC sprints of doing S&P I decided to park on a frequency and not do any searching. Started out on 40M and stayed there. Conditions on 40M seemed to be pretty good with some QRN. It took me awhile to get a smooth flow , overhaul it went well. Will do it again for sure. Thanks to all the regulars and the many new members, several #'s in the 6000's. 73 Dick KC2VBU - What a pain when that work thing gets in the way of the monthly sprint. Good action though for the time I was able to operate,,,,thanks guys !! 80m EFHWW running up about 50 ft then across the back of the yard (the thing is looooong)! K7ZI - Finally, a night at home! Sprint already in progress. Lots of signals interspersed between qro signals spread out across band. Only worked the stronger and interference free signals. Some were suspiciously strong from east coast while others down in the noise. Always a fun couple hours! N9RLO - Got a late start but still had fun. 73,John WB4UHC - My 1st sprint with several 20M QSOs. It was nice to work some new stations and states including OR and SD. I would have scored better by going to 80M but was enjoying 20 and 40 too much. KQ2RP - Only had a small window of time to jump into this sprint, but I wanted to 'christen' my new KX3 and I figured this was the perfect event to do that. Dick, K1IEE in Maine was the first to capture her sigs out of the ether. Looking forward to nicer weather to get the ends of my Sandy-ravaged antenna back up to where they used to be - hopefully by the time the next sprint rolls around. Tnx for the fun! 72 ~ Chris kQ2RP See General Sprint Rules for rules common to every NAQCC sprint.
