SOAPBOX:

NO2D - Cycle 25 is indeed starting. Colorado to New Hampshire on 40 meters at 0047 UTC. Thanks to all who work to make the sprints possible. I really enjoy them. Pete, NO2D.

KC5F - 2nd Sprint in a row where I had to quit after 45 minutes because of vertigo. Too bad, because 40m was in great shape, and it looked like 80m would be, too... Calling the doctor first thing so I can get a full 2 hours in next time!

AC5XK - Thanks for coming early. Conditions worsened here in DC.

K3ZGA - Had a great time. Thanks.

N2ESE - First time I did Log with 5-field format! 73 cu next month,Gary

WG8Y - Hi all,Started a few minutes late. Made 6 Q's and had a computer Glitch. Took app 30 min. to get things back in order. Oh well, least didn't loose the Q's. Played another 35 minutes & pulled the plug.Long day but still fun to hear the regulars & a few new ones. 72call from N.C. Mark WG8Y

N0SMX - M first ever NAQCC sprint. I'm surprised how many stations I could here but not work... 5w can be tough. 72ft EndFed Sloper running from 15ft to 45ft. ICOM 7600 5w with my Navy Flameproof key... Dennis N0SMX The Villages Florida

K9QEW - My first Sprint since returning from wintering in AZ. TX= HB xtal controlled "Funmitter" RX= TS530. QSOs following Stn: K4BAI,KC3MIO,K1MZM,N2ESE,KE9DR,K1QKZ 73s and Stay Tuned, Daryl

N0TA - Incredible on night on 40m! Used a QCX+ -- not the most selective RX, but good enough tonight. Tnx for the Q's. QCX+, Doublet, Amplidan key, NAQCC SprintLogger.

WB4OMM - Pretty noisy here....started off slow, nothing on 20M or 80M. 40M was the band for me tonight. Made some good contacts out a ways (ME, NH, VT and IN and OK) but had to fight the noise the whole time. Welcome to newbies KC5F #10148, AC2YD #10378, and KD0Q #10696! And hello again to many old friends in the Sprints! Signals were good, just wished the noise would go away.....anyway, had fun, hope to see you next month! 72/73! Steve WB4OMM

K4KBL - Great time tonight, many new calls in there as well. Always enjoy our Sprints. Thanks to all that partifipate.

KY0Q - Lots of QRN here but had fun and glad I made time to get on the air tonight. Sorry for the missed Qs early in the contest. Copy was difficult.

K6FA - Lots of QRN on 40 meters. Band was starting to come in near the end. Rig is my trusty K2/10 at 5 watts with the Vertical antenna. Maybe next month I will use my K1.

KD0V - Band condition were better this evening in southern Minnesota. Thanks for the contacts. See you next month, the Lord willing.

K4KRW - Thanks for another fun evening. I only got to play in the last 30 minutes. It was great fun pulling folks out of the noise.

K6GPB - First time used my new Begali Blade key on NAQCC. Look forward to many more times with it on the various events.

W1ND - Wow tough, I think the member .dat file wasn't updated this month AND a lot of new folks participated which made for a challenging sprint. 3 of my first 4 contacts were either too new for the .dat file or had changed their call. I made one more contact than last month, but had a lower SPC Count so a lower overall score. 40M looked like it was hopping, but I kept getting stepped on and couldn't pounce at all. First 20M Sprint Contact for the year, longer days coming.

W4EDN - slow night stayed on 80 the whole time, less qsb. had fun even with a break at 9 and 10 for traffic nets,

NF8M - Op time 45 min. On late because I was giving a club presentation on the MIQP. Nice condx on 80m tonight. TNX for the QSOs. CU MIQP Saturday es agn next month. 72

AA2MX - Lots of lightings crashes, but the bands were pretty good, thanks to all of the NAQCC members and thanks to the NAQCC board for a fun Sprint

K9DRP - Started out on 40 and it was so busy I stayed there all night. QRN got bad about half way thru, but lessened with time. TNX to AA4W for pulling me out of the noise. Another fun sprint!

N4OW - 40M Some strong sigs early then all sigs seemed to drop to 559 or less. Heavy QRN at my QTH.

KE9DR - better condx tonight, some QRN & QSB. 20 was good first 30 minutes. Had fun agn, Thanks to all. 73, Bert KE9DR

AJ4SB - I haven't worked an NAQCC sprint in a long time. Great fun. CU next month!

W4HH - 40 was too good!!! Lots of strong signals, QRM, some deep QSB. Had a great time!!

KN1H - A nice night for a Sprint, not too much noise and lots of activity.

WD4OHD - Only worked 40m tonight. Good signals until the last half hour--19 QSOs. Thanks to all who participated.

AC2YD - Been a while ... glad to do it again. Testing a new WIFI remote control setup in Quisk using straight key ... seems to keep good timing. Softrock RXTX Ensemble, Quisk s/w xcvr, 1/4-wave vertical, 32 radials. Thanks for the good ears!

K3RLL - 40m sure was noisy, crowded and full of QRM this evening but still managed to connect with some really familiar call signs. Big signals tonight into FL were W2SH and KC5F. 72/73 ... Don

N4MJ - 40 WAS QUIET FOR A CHANGE. GOOD RUN FOR ME. TNX TO ALL PARTICPANTS. 73 DE N4MJ//GLENN

N9BT - Nobody on 20m, 80m was too noisy, so only worked stations on 40m.

WB9HFK - I stayed on 40M for entire Sprint. Band was a bit noisy, and quite a bit of QSB on some signals. Sorry to those I could not pull out of the mud. See everyone next time! 72, Mark WB9HFK

WI5H - Worked the second hour of the Sprint. QRN and Lightning crashes were very strong from storms to my North and East. Thanks for the QSOs and OPs who copied my signal. KX3 to two different OCFD Vees) 72 DIT DIT

VA3NU - Strong signals on 40, QRN on 80M tonite. IC 7300 EFHW on40 and 88' dipole on 80M.

N7QR - 54th sprint - KX3, 1958 Vibroplex, Butternut HF6V gnd mtd vert w/o radials for an hour and a half. First QSO started right on the button on 20 and then moved to 40. Heard a few more but could not be heard. High noise as usual with QSB. Just had to play the QSB for the high points. Russ, Portland OR

W2JEK - GOT ON LATE. JUST WORKED 80M. BAND SEEMED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. HAD A GOOD TIME. WORKED THREE NEW MEMBERS. WELCOME. 72/73 DON W2JEK

ND1J - Rough band conditions in GA tonite. Roar of static on 40 & 80. Fun just the same.

WB1GYZ - Tks for an enjoyable Sprint.

AI6SL - 20m was good while it lasted. Lots of QRN on 40m and only 1 QSO on 80m. Fun was had though.

KD0Q - 40M condx were good, some QRN on 80M

WD4CFN - Stayed on 40m the entire time. I am still learning to use a bug. Thanks to everyone for the Q's!

KK4ITX - I heard WB4OMM but noise hr . One other came back to me but faded away. Seven beacons picked me up : PA, PA, MD, NH, OH, KY & one other. Stayed on 7033 except for trying for WB4OMM. First Sprint in quite a while, fun trying !

W5ODS - Very noisey conditions again on 40M and had hard time pulling signals out. Good exercise as usual. 73 Gary

K8NGW - Collected my first 20M sprint QSO's of the year. 40M was so busy I never made it to 80M! Yet again, another GREAT evening with the bug!

NN3E - Thanks everyone fer the QSO's 72 Kevin/NN3E

KE5YUM - I managed one contact with my marginal antenna height in my allotted time for the sprint. I heard several more signals but they got away. See you next month. Terry

VE9BEL - I HEARD MANY STATIONS TONIGHT, BUT NOT A LOT OF THEM HEARD ME. GREAT FUN! 73 BERNARD

WI8J - 40M worked well for me. My best "DX" for this sprint...CA on 40m thanks to K6FA. Thanks for the contacts! 72

WA2FBN - Noisy bands again for sprint. Tnx to all who managed to copy my sigs. 72 Ken

VE3GNU - Good start on 40, for a 'limited time only'! Increasing static, and paddle-trouble pretty much impacted the 'fun factor' for me. Thanks to all who tolerated my sending. Jupiter @ 5w and Begali/Bencher paddles. Cheers----VE3GNU

WB8LZG - Hello fellow Sprinters! Great condx for sprint tonight. Fired up the FTdx1200 at 5 watts to dpl. Glad to be back using my home antenna farm. Started out on 20 but nary a peep there. 40 was nicely populated. Worked many old friends and some new members also. Welcome AC5XK, 10697. Worked ol' pal Louis N8LA and then went to 80. Had a nice run on 80 for abt 1/2 hr working the close in MI,IL,OH stns, then went back to 40 as the band was going long and grabbed VT,CT,NB,ID,TX, and AR. Great fun with lots of stations playing right to the end. Hope condx keep improving so we get 20 meters back in the mix soon. See you all next month. 73, Gregg WB8LZG

KD3CA - Bands very noisy here with QRN , Managed 3 on 20 mtrs and rest on 40 mtrs, tried 80 mtrs but was just too much QRN. Many thanks to all for the call's . 73 to all Don

K1QKZ - 40m propagation was very good with strong signals, greater than S5 with 5 watts.

WB2LQF - forty was noisy with deep QSB but clearly alive tonight. Four stations (WB9FHK, AA2MIX, AC4BN and K4KBL won the "The Rare QSO" award tonight for having snatched a QSO with WB2LQF whose operating time is vastly limited by his XYL. I was summoned to a viewing of Key Largo and tea and crumpets after about a half hour. Experience has demonstrated that resistance is futile.

N8HWV - Bit of deep fading but 40 was carrying good signals. Evan called cq and got responses for the first time ever. FUN!

KA2KGP - Nice turnout this NA sprint. 40 & 80 were good here in WNY. Rig: ICOM IC-7000 at 5w. into G5RV up 25 ft. w/ straight key. 73

NN9K - Nice to be able to operate portable again. New hill, new computer and new problems. Temp 58F when I started & 48F when I finished but still comfortable in the van. 20-meters surprising good to the west coast for a bit then to 40 which was active but every where I went there was someone tuning up beside me, annoying! But had fun and looking forward to next month.

NG8S - My first sprint in over 10 years. Lots of fun, despite my rusty CW and problems with paddles. Most QSO's on 40M and one on 80M. 20M was dead in Ohio.

K3JZD - 40m seemed to be better than it has been for the last several months. And 80m did not have a lot of noise. Nice conditions. KX3 @ 5w - 40m Dipole and 80m 107' EFRW. Jody - K3JZD

KU4A - 30 QSOs in 90 minutes was my best showing since January of 2016. Overjoyed to see some decent band conditions for the first time in months.

KC2EGL - Back to the monthly sprints. Great fun as usual. Thanks to all who logged me. 73 Mike KC2EGL Rig-KX3 Key- US Navy Flameproof

K4KO - I had planned to operate for the whole sprint, but ended up on the phone for almost the entire thing. Maybe next time. Thanks to the few who swapped numbers with me.

W2AFE - Great time! Deployed to Coyote Hills park in Fremont CA. QRM is S9 at my house, S3 at the park. So, I have the choice of not hearing from a comfortable chair versus cold hands on a hard bench with readable signals. Easy decision! A rustle in the bushes turned out to be wild turkeys investigating my keyer noises.

KB9LLD - First NAQCC Sprint. Didn't know about it until I heard an unusually large amount of CW activity on 40m. Also first time using a bug in a contest - great experience, although I definitely need more practice sending with it.

AA5LH - A very good night. I found that my KX2 was hearing much better than my standard K3 battling my ever present QTH noise. Started out on 20M, where I thought the West Coast would be buzzing but nabbed 2 East Coast long haul. After 01:15, went to 40M where I usually get the numbers. There were many stations heard but I just couldn't pull them out. 80M was next after 02:00z but nothing heard. A successful evening. Thank you everyone!

AB1VL - Much QSB. A few faint cqs on 80 but 40 was most active. Tried AA5HX in TX but he couldn't hear me. First sprint since moving from Maine to Montana last summer. Tried others but not heard, gave up 01:30Z

N8LA - KX3; 5W; 200' Dipole @ 35'; NAQCCode Warrior. Heard many NAQCC sprint stations on 40, but could not work many of them. Had better luck on 80. Happy to make contacts with All, especially friends Gregg, WB8LZG, and Larry, W9CC. Best of Everything to All. AM Praying for the Safety of All. Until next time, Lou, N8LA

K4JPN - Tried 20M, but no signals heard, worked a few on 80M and 40M QRN was rough. 72, Steve K4JPN

WX4RM - Was lucky to get the 1 contact on 20 meters before band went DOA. Nothing on 80, but 40 was busy tonight. Had fun as always, could do without the QSB tho.

KQ1P - S7 QRN made for rough copy and I pulled the plug early.

N8GZ - Had a great time trying to dig the signals out of the static crashes and fading. Thanks to all that I had contacts with, lots of fun! Great time as usual and will be back next month! Rig here is KX3 and hustler vertical. Next month Century 21! I should have the PTO and side tone repairs complete and testing done to see how low I can get the output. 73!

W4KRN - Fairly good condx this Sprint. Only operated the last 45 mins. KC3MIO and AA2MX great qrp sigs here in VA. I heard you John K4BAI, but think you were S&P at the time. Tnx all for the contacts. 72

W2SH - An equinox tends to mark a moment when ionospheric propagation undergoes noticeable change. That is obvious from the very different conditions we've had for 2021's March and April sprints. After a seven-month hibernation, 20m was gently open and N5GW's strong signal worked for my first QSO. After 10 minutes and two more QSOs I moved to 40m where activity and QRM were both abundant. 80m, which throughout this winter had been much friendlier than 40m, was significantly changed. Activity was modest and signals though of good strength were well down from earlier months. 360 miles was my best "DX" whereas in the March sprint it had been just shy of a kilomile.

W6GY - Icom IC-705 5 Watts. 40m signals from the East weak til the last 20 mins. Stations heard, not worked: K4KBL GA#8806, KI6M CA#8519, AA5LH CO#5349,KG6OKI CA#9933 and KD0Q IA#10696. Hope to get on 20M next month with a Vertical Antenna.73 from Idaho...Gary W6GY

KC3MIO - I spent the first 15 minutes seeing if I could work stations on 20 and got four before the band went dead. Switching to 40, it was hopping for the next hour before it lost its juice. 80 was excellent for 25 minutes but I couldn't make any more contacts for the last 7 minutes. I heard VE9BEL with a good signal and I thought we would have a QSO, but he vanished and I couldn't hear him again. I know that there were a few others that I heard but could only get fragments of their call signs. I was using my Icom 705 running on battery power with a new Emtech ZM-2 tuner. After a month, I have gotten the tuning process down to 10-15 seconds, so switching bands was pretty quick. The ZM-2 makes all my antennas work with the 705 (and my MTR-5B). A lot of fun, as usual, and the two hours goes by quickly. Thanks to all my contacts and my apologies to those with whom I couldn't seal the deal. I'm looking forward to the warmer weather when I can operate from the deck with the moths and other flying creatures. I'm also looking forward to 20 being open longer.

NN0SS - Problems with the KX3 transmitting . Only 1 QSO TNX Lou

N2JJF - Heard a lot of stations tonight on 40m but nothing on 80m.

KD2EPM - First time, I had fun learning, I'll be back. TU Dom KD2EPM

N5GW - I did not have much time to spend in the sprint, but was thrilled to hear 20M open for the first half hour. 40M was a bit noisy here but in fair shape. The bands should gradually improve in the next few years, hopefully increasing the number of logs submitted.

AC7FF - Another great QRP Sprint

WT4U - Wish I had been able to get on earlier. 40 was hopping, 80 not so much, and I didn't even think to try 20m, which might have worked this time. Fun as always.

AA4W - Been a while since I have had a chance to operate a Sprint. Was glad to hear so many. 20 was very good and 40 as usual. Nothing on 80 by the time I got there. Thanks to both AI6SL and K9TRP . Both of those Q's were the REALLY weak ones and was fun to get them in the log. 72 4W
