Soapbox:
WU1V: I was very active the first week (actually the first 5 days) of this month, so I made the challenge quite easily using only 19 callsigns, 11 DX and 8 US. I also achieved the European Chapter Challenge this month in 5 days as well. I've learned how to use my antenna tuner (at last) and found myself quite able to work 10 meters (with SWR 2.5:1 !), where the bulk of my contacts this month occurred. I'm still learning "tricks of the trade" hihi. Happy Thanksgiving, all! CU in December - 72, Rick WU1V

K3WWP: Took a couple extra days after I found I had 8 letters from non-DX stations and decided I wanted to make it an all DX challenge this month. I missed making a WAC challenge. No South American QSOs included. This was even more fun than usual with the great conditions on the higher bands through 10 meters providing tons of DX to pick letters from. Thanks to all I worked. Now off to get those final 3 Rs to finish the European Chapter challenge.

WY3H: Worked 47 QSOs before I managed to get my second “U.” Despite that I had some good fun and thought the challenge was not overly difficult. Going for surgery at VA Hospital in Pittsburgh on Monday (Nov. 18) so will be QRT for a time. Best 73/72 to all.

K1IEE: Bands very active, spent some time on 10M and 15M. Both have been my favorite for a long time. Weekends I stay mostly on the WARC bands. Great challenge and had a fun time. Dick K1IEE

W9UX: Enjoyed the challenge using all DX contacts. 72, Terry

VE3HNE: Had lots of fun with this challenge did most of it at 2 watts but had to go to 5 watt near the end. I am looking forward to doing the next challenge as this is one of the best ways to keep active at doing qrp. Thanks to all the people who setup all the NAQCC activitys.

N8XMS: Circumstances this month significantly cut into my operating time and I really didn't think that I was going to be able to complete this challenge. But on the 29th I was finally able to do some "Black Friday" letter shopping and managed to hunt down the last 4 letters that I needed.

K0FNR: First challenge---great fun

AB9YC: I didn't have much time for this challenge and worked it over the Thanksgiving weekend, but came up short. I needed more time that just wasn't available. But, it was fun working under the crunch.

W2JEK: THIS WAS A GOOD CHALLENGE. THE LAST LETTER NEEDED WAS THE THREE 'M' S. WAS GLAD TO WORK MAURO I1MMR FOR THEM. WAS LOTS OF FUN.

N1NUA: Os and Rs were very tough this month. I was disappointed when I couldn't complete the challenge. In January I will be in Florida for the month. It will be interesting to compare conditions there to here in Maine. Thanks for providing the challenges!

W4ISI: MY FIRST OF SPECIAL EVENTS. WAS ENJOYABLE, FUN, HAIR RAISING (IF I HAD SOME) AND REWARDING.

PREMISE:
This is the 10th running of our popular Thanksgiving challenge. This was our very first challenge back in 2004 when challenges were still called events. Back then all you needed to do was make the word TURKEY to master the event. Each November since then we've come up with a slightly different word list of items relating to Thanksgiving for you to complete. So make plans now, set up your check sheet and go to it.

TIME FRAME:
The first day of the month 0000Z through the last day of the month 2400Z

RULES:
Simply make all the words in the list below from the calls of stations you work to master the challenge. NO contest or sprint QSO's allowed. QSO's must be made using CW and QRP.

THANKSGIVING
MAIZE
TURKEY
VENISON
BRADFORD
PLYMOUTH ROCK
SQUANTO
MAYFLOWER

For reference, the following 24 letters are contained somewhere in the words:
A B C D E F G H I K L M N O P Q R S T U V W Y Z

You can use each letter in a call TWICE. For example you could use K3WWP for 2 K's, 4 W's, and 2 P's.

Subsequent QSO's with the same station cannot be used for additional letters. For example, no matter how many times you work K3WWP, you can only use his call for 8 of the letters in the words.

See the Alphabet Tutorial page for an excellent way to track any and all of our alphabet type challenges.

AWARDS:
A certificate and Participation Point go to everyone making all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

A Participation Point goes to everyone making at least 1, but not all the words and submitting their report before the deadline.

PRIZES:
Some challenges involve a prize. Check the Prize page in the main section of the web site for more info.

LOGS:
For your report, list the words you made and the station used for each letter in the word. The number of stations listed must be the same as the number of letters in each word, even though you use the same station for more than one letter as in:

WORD - K3WWP, N2OD, WA8REI, N2OD

Note how N2OD is listed for both the O and D.

You may also include comments about the challenge. Please preface any comments you want posted with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.

Send your results to:

E-mail: pix_email_k7hap (1K)

You must type that address into your email program.

Subject must read: (your call) NAQCC (month) Challenge

For example: K3WWP NAQCC February Challenge

Postal mail:
Hap - K7HAP
8532 Canterbury Dr.
Annandale, VA 22003

All entries must be RECEIVED before the 10th of the following month at 2400Z.
