The NAQCC Pets Challenge

Final Results:

Call Stations Diff pets Award
W9ILF 4 Cat, Dog Most pets (tie), Most stations
K3WWP 3 Cat, Dog Most pets (tie)
Soapbox: K3WWP - I thought this challenge created by Kevin, KI4DEF was a good one. Unfortunately it kind of clashed with our N3A special event station and some other things this month. I only had the chance (remembered?) to ask a couple stations about their pets during the month. Good enough for a Participation Award point, but I wish I could have found out more about people's pets. Maybe we'll rerun this challenge sometime in the future.

W9ILF - It was amazing when I got the nerve up to just ask if someone had pets what they would tell me about their pets. It never seems like a smooth process to get into asking, so I would just say I am working a QRP Challenge to find pets names and if they had any. I had a great time. I wish I would have worked on it earlier. One of the hams I worked adopted a cat and dog from a daughter who recently passed away. I can't imagine how difficult that would be, but I was happy he shared that with me. Maybe it helped that I asked.

PREMISE:
This challenge was suggested by Kevin, KI4DEF. It involves finding out if the ham you work has any pets. Hopefully asking the question will lead to a rewarding rag chew about the pets and other things as well. The NAQCC strives to get hams to use more CW on the air and rag chewing is a good way of doing that. Plus it is great to get to know more about the ham you work beyond what rig he is using and what his weather is.

TIME FRAME:
Oct 1, 2006 0000Z through Oct 31, 2006 2400Z

RULES:
Collect info about pets from as many hams as possible during the month. How many, what kind, etc. For the kind of pets, only the kind of animal counts toward your total. That is, Dog (not Spaniel, Boxer, etc.), Cat (not Persian, Siamese, etc.)

You must use QRP and the other station can be using any power.

AWARDS:
A certificate goes to the one collecting pet info from the most different stations and to the one collecting the most different kind of pets.

PARTICIPATION AWARD AND WEB LISTING:
Anyone submitting a report gets a Participation Point and a web listing. You must report at least one station and one kind of pet.

LOGS:
For your report, list the stations you collected pet info from and include a separate list of the different kind of pets.

Please preface any soapbox comments with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.
