Soapbox:

K3WWP - That turned out to be very easy with the RAC contest. Perhaps we should have specified that no contest QSO's could be used to make it more of a challenge?

VA3RKM - Lots of A's and E's in the RAC Canada Day contest made this one fairly easy. But I'm sure the FISTS and QRP ARCI events next weekend will be a great source of letters as well. Happy 4th!

KD2MX - When I went through my log during the week, I found I was still missing a 'C' after my limited RAC and Sprint activity. But I finally finished up the challenge early in the IARU contest, a week behind K3WWP and VA3RKM. John sure finished off this one in a hurry!

W5YH - Wow, that was fun. But I didn't find it too easy. I got most of the letters in the Canada Day contest and finished in the IARU contest. (It took me 2 hours to find my last L).

VA3SIE - I only operate my KX1 from the field. This month I operated in the RAC contest, twice for a local event we call "HF Sunset in the Park" and for "Flight of the bumblebees", so I almost failed to complete all 10 words! My last contact can be found in my bumblebee log which is online along with its writeup at http://www.sunim.plus.com/contests/fobb2006/index.html

PREMISE:
If you follow auto racing at all, you know the Firecracker 400 is a familiar July race although along with most sporting events, it has now been commercialized as the Pepsi 400. Anyway I'm getting off track (pun intended). Our Firecracker 10 is another of our popular alphabet challenges. You seem to respond the most to these alphabet type of challenges, and we want to do what you wish, so here is another one. As usual you make words relating to a subject from letters in the calls of stations you work.

TIME FRAME:
Jul 1, 2006 0000Z through Jul 31, 2006 2400Z

RULES:
You must use QRP and the other station can be using any power. You can use any antenna you want.

Make as many words as you can from the following list of 10 Fourth of July related words:

1776
AMERICA
COLONIES
FIRECRACKER
FOURTH
HANCOCK
INDEPENDENCE
JEFFERSON
JULY
SPARKLERS

You can use a letter in a call TWICE. For example, K3WWP's K could be used in FIRECRACKER and SPARKLERS. If a call has two or more of the same letters, only one may be used. For example, K3RRR could only be used for two R's, not 6.

AWARDS:
A certificate goes to the one who makes all 10 words the quickest.

PARTICIPATION AWARD AND WEB LISTING:
Anyone submitting a report gets a Participation Point and a web listing, even if you make only 1 word.

LOGS:
For your report, just list the words you made and if you got all 10, the date and time you made the last QSO that finished the list. No need to list all the stations worked this time.

Please preface any soapbox comments with "SOAPBOX:" so we will know what you want posted and what is private.

Send your results to KB3LFC at:

E-mail: pix_email_wy3h (1K)

You must type that address into your email program.
